6/11 Day 11

Good morning! Man, my morning's are starting later and later now that summer's officially started. Sorry ginacoates. I've got to start setting my alarm or something. Or going to bed earlier. That would probably be an excellent idea since I tend to snack at night. Yesterday, I was doing so good until around 8 pm when my husband wanted to go to the movies. He didn't bother to check the showtimes because he assumed that the movie would be playing quite frequently because it was a rather popular movie. But when we got there we discovered it was only playing in one theater and it was an hour and a half til the next showing, so we went to Bahama Breeze for their half off appetizer specials instead. I didn't think it would be that bad, and it wasn't...well, it could've been worse. I exhibited incredible will power, for me. I ate chicken quesadillas WITHOUT sour cream and I only ate a few of the chips with the spinach and artichoke dip. But even with my super human display of will power, I consumed more calories in one sitting than I have in these past 3 weeks. :explode: Oh well! I'll have to make up for it today somehow.

I did 2 sets of the 3/20's yesterday. I like them. It's a little fun to mix up the exercises like that. Although, I've gotta say, the lunges felt awkward to me. I kept losing my balance and I had to go slower to keep my form but my butt hurts today so something's working.

Mary9921 - Why don't you replace the crunches with push ups for this challenge?

Today I plan on staying under my calorie count, which I'm finding is a little more difficult to do on my husband's days off and unfortunately he has the whole week off. This week is definitely going to be a challenge for me. I will exercise for 30 minutes and do 2 sets of the 3/20's. We didn't end up going to Tampa yesterday. By the time my husband rolled out of bed, no one felt up for it. Oh well. Maybe we'll do Cocoa tomorrow instead.

I hope you all have a tremendously successful Tuesday and why don't you..."do one thing today to make you feel proud of yourself?"

♥ Diana

Yes, I know how it is with hubby being home. We want to go out to eat all the time or just make big meals. Why do I always want a bunch of food when I'm with him?? Lol. And I was the same way with the lunges. That is an awkward exercise but it's a great burn once you catch your balance! And the late nights, I get it. My fiance and I have been watching Sons of Anarchy on Netflix and we are up so late watching it! Love that show but we have to wait for the kids to go to bed in order to watch it.

Well I already completed my 2 sets of the 3/20's and I also did some pilates. That was a GREAT burn! I was dripping sweat.

For the rest of the day I plan to stay within my calories and I'm gonna do the rest of my calorie burn at work, waitressing. Might sneak in another set of the 3/20's as well

    Happy Tuesday, Everyone!!

Diana - I have to say I have real "Florida envy" -- Orlando, Tampa, Cocoa . . . . I love the ocean - Sanibel/Captiva is one of my most favorite places in the world. Play in the sun for all of us who are under rain clouds day after day. (actually, it's sunny out right now - but I won't say that loudly cuz it's probably just a trick!!!)

I have a small vegetable garden and some of my stuff is starting to come in -- and that makes the eating challenges lots easier for me than usual. It is the exercising part that I am not putting real effort in. I am constantly amazed at all the different things folks are talking about doing. I have some limitations in mobility -- but, I know I'm jiving myself and not looking at ways around things. I will today give my power and energy to solutions for my exercising. Thank you to this group for making me accountable.

Beth, I saw you mentioned mobility issues, not sure exactly what they are. When I started in January I was under strict doctor's orders that I could not even stand for more then 5 minutes at a time, and a lot of other issues. So, first I focused on my eating, then I could do some basic arm exercises while sitting in my chair. I would crank up some music and chair dance.

Once I improved a little but still had the restrictions I bought myself a mini bike, $27 from walmart, best thing I ever bought. I could sit in my computer chair and peddle... when I started 5 minutes and I was done. Well I wore that poor thing out 3 months of using it every day and finally getting up to doing 30 minutes at a time, I finally was able to get a real exercise bike and elliptical machine.

So having been there with very limited mobility, and having found ways around it, if you need anything just ask. Luckily now my doctor has told me I can exercise and do more as long as I'm very cautious. I have very severe lung and heart problems due to all the medicines I've taken and the extra weight.

I consulted YouTube for advice on lunges, but even after watching several videos, I still felt awkward. I had balance issues, and I felt a tugging (not stretching, tugging) sensation on my MCL (which I tore in high school). I'll try again today, but I might have to replace the lunges with something else.

In good news, I have a really pleasant level of soreness in my abs. It's not painful; just enough to let me know I did something yesterday.

    Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Well keeping back on teh wagon - envious not oly of Florida but also summer as on other side of the world and in the midst of winter and winter blues and carbo craving!! Still - there's always an excuse ... am managing exercise and biking to work - even in teh dark - have set myself a strict rule to keep up one pump class a week as always gets bumped off .. so is tonight. Really need to get fitter for ski season) the bonus of winter.

Keeping on track re food - tongiht is the night my son cooks dinner so make it a rule to eat whatever he cooks (he is only 14 so grateful he is still doing as has been a new thing this year) - still with pump class still should manage to stay within calorie limit.

Am also filling in my chart - might eevn give myself a sticker :flowerforyou:

Had a decent night's sleep, but I REALLY didn't want to get out of bed this morning. However I did, and got in almost 30 mins of HIIT on the elliptical plus one set of 3/20s. Considering how my knee reacted to 40 squats last week, I was a little nervous about 20 squats + 20 lunges, so I did 20 squats, 10 regular lunges (each side), then 10 lateral lunges each side, to give my knees a little break. We'll see what they feel like tomorrow, which is Power Yoga day for me, so knees get a rest.

Even with a Girls' Night Out tonight, I stayed under calories, so life is good.

For those who feel lunges are awkward, try taking a little wider stance so you're not fighting the balancing quite as much, and either don't lunge as far or don't lunge as deep. One thing yoga is really teaching me is that you have to trust what your own body is telling you, rather than only relying on outside opinion.

G'night, and have a fabulous tomorrow!
