Last night 2 bottles o' beer.
Day started with car trouble, meeting he## at work, $1200 car repair, poor food choices last night and no exercise. Predictable results 350+ over, .4 lb up this am, and poor quality sleep to boot.
There will probably be beer tonight, and unrealistic to hold it to one, but will keep it down to two.
Means I better get my butt out of the office for a lunchwalk.
Robin so very very happy to hear you've been reassigned to the good boss!
Happy Friday,0 -
Last night I had 4 smallish mango vodka and sprite zeros. They are so yummy I couldn't help myself
After work, I am meeting Lenny at Rock Bottom for a beer and a free appetizer....only reason are going but a valid enough reason to go. We may work on an outdoor project while we are digesting and I'm sure a beer will be had. Then maybe some wine. Low key tonight, since we have to make to the gym at open then my nephew's 11th bday party in the afternoon.
Sunday, we am taking my dad to go see star trek then iron hill for dinner!
Happy friday everyone!0 -
Good to see you auntiebk! Car troubles suck
Another nice weekend in the works for you Kate!
We have behind home plate tickets at Petco Park for Saturday night with the boy...a nice family outing to celebrate Dad's day. I imagine beer and wine will be had along with crappy food choices but I will enjoy every minute...even if the Padres lose.
I will be cooking tonight and Sunday..my marinated grilled chicken and carne asada have been requested...no more dining commons grub for the kid and he's ready for mama's cooking. I'm avoiding the scale for a few days until I get back into an exercise groove.
TGIF everyone!:drinker:0 -
Wed 2 big glasses of crisp white
Thurs. (my 'Friday') 2 big glasses of crisp white AND 3 natural lights
Fri??? I did lose 3 lbs so Sunday's 0, with Monday's and Tuesday's almost abstinence was worth it.
Going to try to NOT drink like a pig this weekend.
Have a good weekend all. :drinker:0 -
Devistated. The move didn't go thru. so I am back with the b and only 2 days a week with the good boss. Right now life sucks and I want a drink. :sad:0
-
Auntie......welcome back to the official lush thread.
Sydney...I want to come over and eat as well.
Pam, 3 lbs. is great - weekends are tough.
Robin, your story makes me want to drink. At least, it's Friday.
Kate, enjoy the app night and a movie night
Monday...I think I had 6 beers total.
Tuesday....super lushy with vodka at the casino
Wednesday, 0
Thursday....3.5 beers with hubs at happy hour
Friday...I will set a limit of 3 vodkas - because now I am dying for mango vodka
Saturday...0
Sunday...0
I went on a job interview today for some per diem work at memory care cottages. I wonder if the lady hiring me was a lush because we actually had a good time together. I'll be filling in for her when she's gone. It will be nice to do something different and low key instead of the demanding pace of a hospital unit0 -
Kim, good luck on getting that per diem work. Also, would I be correct to assume Memory Lane is an Alzheimer's care facility?0
-
Oh Robin- you have had rotten luck the past few months. Hoping it gets better for you soon!0
-
Took a friend out for Indian food last night for her birthday. It was nice to be social. got home and saw that it was free HBO, Starz and Cinemax on Dish so I stayed up watching movies. and drinking diet and Sailor Jerry's. An enjoyable evening.0
-
Awww, sorry to hear that Robin! Just when it seemed bearable. Well, 2 days with the good one is better than none. Hang in there!
Thanks Kim....I think after last night's lushiness I should cool it today! Good luck on your new job!
Friday night: 1/2 box of crisp white wine that lead to nakid in the hot tub. And also, a gain of 1 lb. Sheesh, so much for having fun! lol
I'm hoping my job turns out. My trainer seemed to have gotten a bit edgy by week's end. I want to tribute that to the fact that our office manager is gone (due to family death) and the trainer/business assistant has to take up some of her duties. I'm hoping it's not me. I also think that while she is the trainer, there is not much positive feedback from her. I don't think she has that in her. Next week will be interesting, as the receptionist is coming back from vaca, I will be there and what the heck will they do?? I'll try not to stress about it. :ohwell:0 -
Thanks, Sydney! Carne asada yumm, do you share recipes?
Thanks, Kim. Sometimes a girl's just gotta have bread.
 Pam, hot tubs are great for steaming it out :blushing:
Friday night met friends for beers (2) and appetizers. Time to go, uh oh, the parking garage key is on my car's key ring, at the shop, which is now closed for the weekend. Cab home. DH met me at the door and we sat up together while I had, yes another beer, and not one, not two, but count 'em T H R E E slices of banana bread.
Felt like crap this morning and had to borrow DH's truck to pickup deli tray for my pew-buddy's husband's memorial service this morning. Dropped it off at church, had a BLA and small salad and (shudder) pepsi-not-coke-dammit breakfast before T'ai Chi in the garden. The first 10 minutes were tough but felt better after and got through the service and reception pretty well. Nap? Dead to the world while DH was still talking to me. All better now, hungry and wondering if there's another Sierra Nevada left in the fridge...
Robin, it just stinks that you're stuck with the b for now, glad you were able to put it behind you and enjoy your Friday night.
Hugs, lovely lushies,
Barbara0 -
Thanks, Sydney! Carne asada yumm, do you share recipes?
Umm...I don't really have a set recipe. But I use either flank or skirt steak. I marinade it at least 4 hours...up to overnight and use:
Chile powder
Cumin
Garlic
Grill seasoning
Red pepper flakes
some kind of citrus juice (fresh)...usually lime...but lemons and oranges work as well
light olive oil
Balsamic Vinegar
I might throw in some wine if I have that as well.
If I want a more smoked flavor I use chipotles.
That's about it. Grill the marinated steak at pretty high heat...4-5 min a side. It's thin and doesn't take long at all.
Let rest and slice in strips. Serve with tortillas (my SIL makes homemade...YUM!) and serve with whatever you like. Peppers, onions, salsa, cheese, etc. I often grill the veggies at the same time.
Hope everyone is enjoying their dad's day! (Gary especially ) I had a big fat 0 yesterday. May have a little wine tonight.0 -
Sorry Mama Lush :frown:
I've been lushy and not as active as I should be. Shooting for 0's tomorrow through Friday and an hour on the bike Monday through Friday.
For now, champagne :drinker: while watching The Killing.0 -
Hi peeps - Hope everyone enjoyed their Father's Day
I worked 12's over the weekend and actually had my first hospice patient die on my shift. I've eluded it for 10 years. Somehow they always manage to pass before I get there or after. Family was one of the best and it was peaceful. But damn, she was a toughie. I was giving 40mg of morphine under her tongue every hour and 1 mg of lorazepam every other hour. I feel like it would have brought down a mighty horse.
So, then I went with Ron for a couple of beers and an appetizer.
MD appointment today for a BP check and see what else I can do about this plantar fasciitis - talked to someone in physical therapy and they say they treat from the hips - postural thing, I guess.
Syd, you make me drool.
Barbara, loved your re-cap which make me giggle inside.
Kat, just make up your mind your going to do it and get it done.
I'm going to pole tonight and get a beast workout.
OK, here we go:
Monday, 0
It's my weekend off and it could be dangerous. I really just want to hang out in the yard and play bags. But, it seems it will be filled with 11-year-old baseball.0 -
Lushy weekend, as usual!!!
Friday-2 beers, and three manhattans
Saturday-about 2 beers, 3 berry vodka and sugar free red bull, and 2 manhattans
Sunday-4 beers and 1/2 bottle of wine
I surprisingly feel pretty good today (except for a bit puffy from mass amounts of sodium over the weekend). Probably nothing to drink tonight, need atleast 1 dry day right
Keep on keeping on everyone!0 -
On Saturday I was motivated, I dreadmilled and gardened. The front yard looks good. ( I was getting embarrassed to pull in to our driveway the weeds in the flower beds looked so sad. Then Sunday I was a total slug. I couldn't get work out of my head and it really brought me down. I hope to get back on the motivation wagon when I get home today. I may even try for a zero. Have a good Monday.0

Sun - 5 beers
Team loss.0 -
Kim...bless you. We had wonderful hospice for my dad. What a tough job but know that families like mine appreciate you more than we can express!
Had to go in for a Vitamin D blood test. I take supplements every day..but my bones are showing some signs of loss. Not to the critical stage yet, thankfully.
I'm wondering if drinking might be contributing to that since I do exercise and take supplements already (which is what someone my age is prescribed to do to avoid this)
I do have some family history of it as well.
My spine is fine..but both hips show some weakness. That's where I get sore/tight a lot after I workout as well.
Getting old sucks hairy donkey balls. :grumble:
I had 2 glasses of wine last night. Probably something similar tonight.
Hope everyone has a good week!0 -
So, the BP isn't really better and going to trial a new med. Then, he decided to do an EKG which shows an irregular beat which I already know I have. So, I think that I am going to really lay off the liquor and try to calm my nervous system. Drinkers who come in sometimes have what they call a "hangover heart" and the electrical system is kind of jacked.
Also, he thinks the PF might be at the end-stage because of the pain and pressure points. I bought an ugly pair of Dansko's today to wear at work. They make me feel like a Danish cow milker.
I have to go back in 30 days - I am going to try very hard to abstain - $hits me...:grumble:0 -
Good luck Kim! Hope it gets under control!!!
Syd-good luck to you too! Bone loss is scary. Keep fighting the good fight!!!
Nothing last night. Not sure what tonight will bring.0 -
Hi. Haven't read through and caught up on everything, but hope you are all lushing along nicely. I certainly got my fill in at Bonnaroo. I'm ready for a little break. My parents don't leave till tomorrow, which probably means a little wine tonight. Should have a mellow weekend.0
-
Kim, do you get the whole white coat BP increase?
I do. I monitor my BP and have managed to drop it considerably through diet/exercise and my weight loss..took it yesterday at CVS and it was 116/78. But at Dr it was 140/85. She knows that so doesn't worry very much about it. I check it on a regular basis and it never is as high as when I'm at Dr office.
Better it sounds like you've had some fun times lately. :drinker:
I'm slowly back into a routine...no vacation or out of town plans for a while and my diet and exercise plans are seeing the benefits.
2 glasses of wine again last night...over several hours. Probably something similar tonight.0 -
Exercised yesterday and today. Got a 0 for booze last night but today I'm getting together with the best friend for shopping then going to see The Purge followed by dinner and drinks0
-
only half a bottle of wine last night. but I wasn't very motivated. I feel my work situation sucking the life force from my body. I feel like the scenes from the Harry Potter movies when the dementors suck the life for out. I guess my boss is just a dementor.:laugh:0

Thank you...Hospice is a great program, I'm glad that you had a good experience with it. I often refer that and palliative care to patients and families.
Take calcium supplements with Vitamin C. Vit C helps to absorb the calcium. I really don't think you drink enough to contribute to bone loss - but, then again, I'm a lush so it must be something else. Oh, I know that caffeine and smoking also contribute.
Hairy donkey balls
And, I totally think I have "white coat syndrome" - but, I take it at work and it's been high as well - so, pooey, I have to drop the weight and get back into cardio. It's encouraging to hear that you were successful in getting yours down as well.
Kat, whooooo wooooo - a zero
Robin - You're job is sucks "hairy donkey balls" - which, incidentally, is my new favorite phrase.0 -
Ohhhhhhhh
Monday, 0
Tuesday, 0 - but, I thought about how a cold beer would be de-lish
I have the next 7 days off and will really need to abstain - or - moderate especially with meds on board.0 -

:noway: Kim, my BP is trending upwards again too, and white coat syndrome is a definite for me, but when I'm on track, especially with daily lunchwalks, it trends back down again... at least so far... Your Danish milkmaid comment cracked me up. I LOVE my ugly Danskos, can even Line Dance in 'em but I can understand how a golden slipper girl might not feel the same way.
:glasses: Robin, I haven't seen/read all the Harry Potters, how do they defeat the dementors?
Sunday went amazingly well, hours in the garden and only 12 oz Ninkasi Spring Reign.
Monday shop called, a hose broke during the repair, none in stock, will arrive Tuesday. Scottish Country Dance class was chatty but still got in 1.25 hrs of sweatin' and 0 hooch.
Yesterday things went well at the House of Pain, hygienist Nancy is very gentle, but  a securing clip snapped off the radiator during repairs, none in stock, should be in tomorrow. Told Joe, "tomorrow it will be about the $$ but today it's about 'I want my car back!!!' "  so of course I broke the Lenten lifestyle, finished off the Ninkasi and topped it off with a Reeses pb icecream cup. No exercise and 170 over. Today is Line Dance class so will abstain tonight.0 -
Mojito at dinner. Tiny glass of rose' with my parents on the deck. Then a margarita in the hot tub. Then a big glass of red.
0 tonight and tomorrow. Hope to drink moderately over the weekend.
Oh, while on medical topics.....my husband's enzymes were cut in half from the nearly 4 weeks of abstaining. His dr. surprisingly didn't lecture him. Just told him to remember that whilst binge drinking. So it's good news it wasn't something else, but I guess bad news that it's just another indicator we shouldn't binge drink...... :ohwell:0 -
Reese pb ice cream, MMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great news about your husband Ashley! Binge drinking...who does that
So far 2 zeros this week. Might keep it going tonight...MIGHT...its supposed to be a really nice day here. Humidity is going away and we are going for a nice walk after work so I might walk up a thirst for something alcohol related. The only things we have in the house are a bottle of red and some heavier beers (stouts, barleywines, quads) and those don't really do it for as a refreshing beverage, but we'll see
Half way through the week, yippy!0 -
My BP is astronomically high right now due to work stress, lack of exercise and being a bit heavy. I also have really bad "White Coat Syndrome".
Kim aren't there white coats every where at your work? So of course it would still be high at work
Syd - I have the opposite problem with calcium. My body produces too much. I have several calcified lymph nodes and when I had my first child the placenta had started to calcify. I have to avoid calcium supplements (iron too) I am a frickin mineral factory. :noway:
Barb - I don't think you defeat dementors you can only repel them with a very strong patronus. (protection spell)
A bottle of red last night. I have no motivation or will power once I get home. I really need to break this really bad habit. I have to DO Something when I get home.
Happy Lushing all. And I only have one other thing to say.
Hairy Donkey Balls!!0
