Dismounting from prone jackknife

Options
Watching me dismount from prone jackknife has to be one of the most embarrassing things to ever happen in my gym....and about 10 years ago I fell off a treadmill in that very gym because I was laughing so hard at a Will and Grace episode. I'm pretty sure this tops eating it on the treadmill although that was quite humiliating at the time.

Any tips on how to finish up the set and gracefully get off the ball?

I wish that I could offer advice. I can only commiserate. I have no good way to get off that dang ball.

As you develop upper body strength it will become easier. I usually just roll off to the side, but I keep my upper body stiff to support me. Often times, I roll around on the ball until I'm sitting on it. I love those things personally, i'm sure I look like an oversized animal playing with it. ;)

I kind of roll forward until my knees touch the ground, kick the ball out of the way and get up from there, seems to work OK.

Previously, when me arms were a bit wobbly, I had been known to fall forward and eat the mat :blushing:

I found myself sitting on one bouncing away to my IPod the other day, got some strange looks from the blokes in the weight area but I was away with the fairies  I'd love to have one at home, if only we had the space, then I could play to my hearts content!

I am far from lady like doing it but my friend topped my floppy dismount today by headbutting the dumbell rack. Perfect dismount.

This - preferably without the mat eating bit though

I pull my body towards the ball so that my stomach is resting on the ball, and my feet are on the ground from there I role off the ball.

Hee, yeah, it's always something. either you're bent over the ball with your booty in the air, or you're like, "Oh hells yeah, watch me balance it until I'm kneeling on it so I can ..." and then it shoots out from under you and hits the guy doing crunches.

Usually I just try to slide my shins off of it so I'm in downward dog since it seems less porno than the kneeling.

I was doing mine for the first itme last night and got to thinking how I must look like a giant stink bug with my caboose all up in the air and got to laughing so hard I came crashing down and just about took out the TV ! I'm going to count the laughter as extra credit cardio!:blushing:

aaargh, i tried that today. the ball trundled back at full speed with me desperately trying to cling on - I must've looked like a human wheelbarrow, haahaha

Haha...I pretty much collapse on the floor. Luckily, I work out at home so I am only making a fool of myself in front of my dog. :-)

I just support my upper body and put one foot down and push to stand up from there.

Tomorrow when I am doing these at the gym I am going to remember thousand laugh and end up face planting because of it. Made me crack up.

This post and me portraying you guys dismounting made me laugh. I just let myself fall like a potatoe sack, then get up and salute gymnast style :)

i would usually just roll my legs to the side and plop them onto the floor while using my arms to keep myself steady. haha i love whoever was saying that their ball popped out and hit the guy doing crunches! the small area i do the step or ball exercises is usually pretty full of people (even at 5 in the morning), and i always freak myself out by imagining something like that happening! that... or if i have to fart, i really hope no one is in close proximity...

i kind of try and roll back to the starting position and step off of it with one leg, find my balance with it on the floor and step off with the other one.
that, in theory. but im on stage4 and mainly still just falling off like a potato sack and laughing at myself each time. (i workout at home luckily)

Oh man! You ladies are hilarious!!I'm extra bummed that work prevented me from following this thread from the beginning. Face plants, wipe outs, and fart dismounts. THIS makes working out worth it. And the hot bod, of course...

I also collapse post jackknife. If I am able to get down gracefully, I figure that means I have a few more reps in me.

I have not figured out a proper dismount yet. But my husband laughs at me every time. And I laugh at myself. Its good to get a good laugh in at the gym.

I noted how I get off today, I bring my knees all the way in and lower them to the floor. When one is down I take the other foot off the ball. Seems to work for me :)
