Low Calories

When you guys went Paleo, did you notice you did not have to eat as often or as much to be full? The last two days I have averaged about 700 calories because I just haven't been that hungry or having intense cravings like I used to before. I eat when I am hungry of course but was just curious if this has happened to any of you when you first started or even if you experienced it after doing it for awhile.
Thanks in advance

I've dropped my calories in half. I ate a huge breakfast this morning, by huge I mean by volume, not calories, and that kept me full until about 3pm. Nuts and avacado (and wine, which I know is not paleo) are about all I take in that push my calories close to or over my goal.
That said, I'm not sure I'd do 700 calories for too many days. You should probably up your meat volume or eat fattier meats.0 -
In short, yes.
When I first started eating primally, my calories dropped super low because of the high satiety factor of fat. I was not used to eating that much fat and that little carb. Over a month I began to be able to eat larger quantities of food as I became accustomed to eating more fat.
I was also eating different things. I didn't have desires to eat good size portions of some things that I never ate that much of. For example, pre-primal I ate cereal (more than one "serving") for breakfast almost every morning and never felt stuffed.
Eating an egg and a serving of sausage though filled me up past comfortable. Now I can eat two eggs cooked in butter, and probably two servings of sausage (if I wanted that much sodium) with a teaspoon of maple syrup and maybe even a glass of milk. I have also eaten 1,000 calorie breakfasts before in my year of primal eating.
Depending on how long you have been eating this way, you may just need to acclimate to the food and fat level. I wouldn't worry about the calorie amount too much for now, you will get hungry eventually. If you feel like it should be improving, maybe you need to make the food you are eating more appetizing or try more calorically dense foods.0 -
Thank you both for the replies! I have only been paleo for a week, I did it for 3 weeks last year got stressed and fell off the wagon so to speak. But when I was eating that way I never felt better, so I am back at it again. This week I averaged between 1300-1600 everyday except the last two days, so I was just curious how long it took to acclimate. I dont want to go too low for too long, but I dont want to force myself to eat either if that makes any sense. Even tonight I walked 4.4 miles and still don't feel hungry but am thinking I am going to have some tuna or something just to help my body out. Your guys made me feel a lot better thank you

Sheesh, I know what you mean! This weekend we are working at a homeschool conference and I have no desire for the candy that seems to decorate every vendor's table. I ate a hearty breakfast before going, a cautious lunch at a fast food place, and a huge anniversary dinner, and I still didn't manage to break 1000 calories.
It's easier at home where I can track the calories right after eating lunch and know how much to shoot for at dinner.
And I *have* to track calories, or I'd be consistently running about 700 to 900 daily, which I'm told will stall my weight loss. Weird problem to have -- I don't think I've ever had the problem of having to eat *more* than I wanted... at least, not until I started eating this paleo/primal way.0
