Paleo doesn't work like that. It's about making educated decisions. The main "don't eat this" things (grains, legumes, etc) are due to the amount of studies linking various properties of these things that are detrimental to our health. Not every single food item has undergone this kind of scrutiny, or has such solid conclusions. There's just too many different foods.
As a general rule of thumb, though - if you can grow it, raise it, and eat it raw or cooked over a campfire, you can probably eat it. If it comes in a box and you can't pronounce any of the ingredients and/or the list is more than about 5 items long (or contains one of the "DO NOT EAT" ingredients), you probably shouldn't eat it, if you can avoid it.
The previously linked Bulletproof Exec site has a nice graphic to help determine whether to avoid a given thing (note that it's a sliding scale system) - http://www.bulletproofexec.com/the-complete-illustrated-one-page-bulletproof-diet/ and Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint, as well as his website, marksdailyapple.com, contains numerous discussions on a number of the "gray area" foods and whether he thinks they're in line with the Primal/Paleo philosophies.
The key, though, is that this isn't a diet with hard and fast rules to blindly follow.1 -

A quick search pulls up this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylitol
According to it, it's a sugar alcohol that naturally occurs in many fruits, though the commercial variety is often extracted from hardwoods or corncobs. It has calories, though fewer than regular sugar, and doesn't have much effect on blood sugar levels. It seems it also has dental benefits and some anti-microbial properties.

also although not entirely primal/paleo as there is a lot of info on sprouting grains etc I find Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon excellent too especially for recipes for offal, fermented foods etc0 -
Lookie what I found! Loren Cordain's The Dietary Cure for Acne on Scribd! You can read it online for free (you have to be a member to download it). It's a bit academic, but has some awesome information.

As mentioned later on: "Primal Body, Primal Mind" by Nora Gedgaudas. I think it is THE best resource/explanation. I would caution against Dr. Loren Cordain's "Paleo Diet" due to the very strong stance against fat.
Also, a little more in-depth is "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes. However, I do not recommend his next book "Why We Get Fat" because the eating plan that he suggests condones the use of artificial sweeteners. Too bad. It would also be useful to overlap nutritional research with Anthropology. A lot of work has been done looking at disease and aboriginal diets but it is conveniently ignored in contemporary discussion on nutrition. Dr. Weston A. Price published "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" and his work, though "old" is completely relevant and worth consideration. I live with Inuit so I can see first hand exactly what he also observed. Too bad the WAPF has decided to take a stance against Paleo so I don't find myself very supportive of the current organization, but Dr. Price is a hero in my view.0 -

The downfalls of dead-tree format. Dr. Cordain has since reversed his stance on fat. The way I look at research and whatnot is this - find the gems within each book and take that with you. Every book is going to have it's good points and bad points. Take them in aggregate and you'll likely come out with a better picture than taken individually.0 -
Found a documentary movie and website that, from what I've seen of it so far, is awesome (my husband was watching it when I got home yesterday, so I only caught the last half hour of it). It's call The Perfect Human Diet. The maker even talked to Dr. Cordain!
