Relationship Between Testosterone Levels and Weight

I had a frustrating check up with my endocrinologist yesterday. He informed me that my testosterone levels have plateaued instead of continuing to decrease, so I have to increase the Metformin. He also informed me that I am vitamin D deficient, just one more thing to add to the list.

I questioned him about why I can't lose weight. I can eat very little and still not lose a pound. He unfortunately did not have any answers except to say that the way my body functions, I can smell carbs and gain weight. He also said that my body will do everything it can to not lose weight. Frustrating.

So my question is, as your testosterone levels decreased, did you notice a better ability to lose weight? Do I still have some home to shed this once and for all?

There's a part of me that takes his words as a personal challenge. Because he said I basically can't lose weight, I'm going to do everything I can just to prove him wrong. However, there's a tiny voice inside of me that reminds me I will be anything but happy if I obsess about it. Feeling a little lost and broken.

I'm right there with you: depressed, frustrated, and honestly, pissed off. I've been forbidden to exercise due to a knee injury so I'm barely eating 1400 calories and I'm (thankfully) maintaining but not losing at all. I firmly believe after all of this that exercise is crucial to losing weight with PCOS/IR.

Just remember to be kind to yourself. I struggle with it daily and try to lessen the pressure I put on myself. I wish I had more answers or at least more solid ones. :)

I think I'm actually at a point right now where I want to develop some sort of acceptance of my body as it is. I don't mean giving up on my focus to be healthy, but accepting that my body has it's challenges, that it is likely to always have those challenges, but to be proud and give myself credit for all the things I am doing to be as healthy as I can be despite the challenges.

Exactly! Be proud of how far we've come, accept that our bodies aren't typical, and sometimes appreciating little successes while not focusing on failures. It's a good goal. :)
