Chiro for infants

Has anyone tried this?

My midwife recommends it (with infant Chiro specialists only). They don't adjust them like they do with adults, but I'm still nervous.

My girl has colic, gas and although the probiotics have helped with the crying spells.....she's still in pain. Crying out in her sleep and rarely wanting to be put down. She struggles when eating (on the breast and on the bottle)

Really just want her to be out of pain.

I take my babies to the chiropractor for ear infections and it works well. No antibiotics needed. I dont know about colic and as pain but what i can suggest is that maybe your baby is allergic or intolerant to dairy products. My exclusively breastfed baby was extremely colicky and had diarrhea and terrible stomach cramps when he was a newborn and my pediatrician suggested that I stop eating all dairy products for 6 weeks and see what happens. Sure enough a few weeks later he was free of symptoms. I took him at 6 months for allergy testing and I was told that he was not allergic to diary. So I tried eating dairy again for a day... and his symptoms came back. So I went back off dairy products. At age 1 I tried again and this time he was able to tolerate dairy thru my breastmilk. Now he is 15 months old and we are slowly trying to introduce him to dairy foods and see how he reacts. Just wanted to share my experience....I hope some of this helps

I haven't tried it with my son, but a friend of mine took her 2 month old daughter to an infant chiropractor to help with her reflux. It worked!

It's worth giving it a try, anything to make the little ones feel better! Good luck :)

I didn't even know you could do this. My doctor prescribed Zantac for my son's reflux. It worked (although I was really unhappy about giving him medicine so young). He has been off of it for a month though, as, at a certain point, their systems become more mature and the problems go away.

Anyway, I would try the chiropractor.

Great advice ladies! I'll look at dairy too. I think I'll head to the Chiro this week and I will update you.

I am having the same issue with my baby. I was told to cut out dairy as well but i babe not neen off of it long enough to see if its making a difference but ever since i put him on probiotics i have noticed a huge difference, but I am taking my baby to the chiro tonight for the first time. I have now been told by 3 different people to go and did some research and many people swear by it. I will report back tonight to let you know what the results are after his first visit.

I am very nervous but I am going to a place that specializes in infant care and a co-worker of mine took her son to the same place so it helps me feel a little better.

My son is colicky so my fingers are crossed!

Appointment went well. The appointment was for 4:30, the beginning of his fussy time so the doctor could see him act up. She said its easier to work with them while they are relaxed. I did get him to fall asleep so the doctor was able to work with my baby. the doctor showed me different massage techniques I can use when we are at home. She also used some sort of instrument on his bad. She did it in me to show me it doesn't hurt and it didn't. She explained everything she was doing and showing me how much pressure she was using. They didn't do any sort of cracking or adjusting; it was more massaging and working with the belly. I am going back tomorrow. She said she likes to work on them twice and usually they respond to the treatment rather quickly if it's going to work. She also found a good carrying position that he liked.

Anyways...he's home now and just fell asleep (he's usually up and fussing for us right now). He's doing pretty good so far. He seems pretty content but we'll see what happens the rest of the night and tomorrow, I will kup.

My SIL took her oldest to a chiro for colic when he was little and she swore it worked. I think she also took him for a neck issue, too. He was a c-section baby, but she did push for quite a while with him in the birth canal forehead first, which is not good for baby's spine (I'm surprised they even had her push given he was in a bad position).

I have a friend who is a chiro and he's a huge advocate of starting chiro care from day one, but we've honestly never really had much of a discussion about it.
