Where am I?

I've just found this group, and I'm glad I did. I'm 12 years post hysterectomy. I was 46 and had it done because I had large fibroid tumors that were causing me th hemmorage. I was still having regular periods up until then. How do I know where I am now? Because I'm 58 I know I have to be menopausal, but what are the symptoms? I sweat a lot, but three years ago I moved to a tropical country. I haven't noticed any other symptoms. Is there anyone out there who has had a similar experience who can tell me what to look for? Or should I just stop thinking about it and accept that perhaps I'm one of the women who is going to sail through easily? Thoughts?

Welcome :flowerforyou:
I would say you went into menopause with the hysterectomy.
You are blessed with no symptoms!0 -
:flowerforyou: I had partial hysterectomy at 40, I kept my ovaries .. so soon after that I was being treated for Anxiety problems.. racing heart sometime, feeling blue, being forgetful and I thought it was stress.. for years.. so I was going to see a councilor and she asked, how old are you at that time I was 46.. she says you are describing menopause.. I was so offended. WHAT NOT ME.. that is for old ladies.. so.. I went to GYN Dr and he said my Estrogen levels were lowering, they were still present but getting down there. SO started the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). At least OUR generation actually talks about this and compares note. I get the bio-identical implants every 12 weeks and feel pretty dang good. :flowerforyou:0

I've wondered the same myself. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy just over a year ago and apart from very mild occasional warm flushes, I'm not aware of any other symptoms. Like you, I was having periods right up to my op which was the day before my 51 birthday. I'm hoping this is as bad as it gets!0

I've been reading Dr. Susan Love's menopause book, wherein she lists over 20 symptoms including wierd itchy patches and forgetfulness. My hot flashes started a few months ago and usually feel like a patch of pins and needles. One time it happened over my left shoulder, I thought I was having a heart attack - so I went to the ER = $500 later, the 24 year old ER cardiologist would not tell me it was a hot flash, he would only say that I didn't have a heart attack.
Bottom line from Dr. Love is that menopause is like puberty in reverse. Surprise/adjustment cycle for x years.

I too kept my ovaries, and my cervix. Good thing, as I was in a drug study group a few years ago that would only accept women with a cervix!0
