My current try at LCHF is going better than the previous one. I haven't gotten headaches, just a little dizziness and weakness (though that could be from the Texas heat!). The better results could be because I upped my calories from 1200 to 1600.
I just finished week one of Atkins induction. No ketones in my urine yet, but I have the stinky, oily pee and have lost almost 10 pounds so far. I plan to stay on induction for another week and then start adding a few more carbs, 5 carbs a week. What's a good level of carbs to stay at for weight loss? I don't think I can keep doing induction indefinitely.
Feel free to look at my diary. I can't eat many vegetables because I have a LapBand, and I just get too full (and slightly nauseated).
Also, should I allow myself a cheat meal at all? If so, how often?
Thanks for any advice.

If you're doing keto, that's totally different from atkins and induction and all those buzzwords. If you're having 1600 calories a day,5% is 80 calories, divide by 4 for calories per gram, and you can have 20g of carbs per day. 117g of fat is 1053 calories, 117g of protein is 468 calories, and BAM you have 1601 calories for the day in a perfect keto ratio.0

great post bacitracin!
Arthemise the thing about keto is that you'll be eating at almost induction levels just about everyday. If things are working for you why change it?
In terms of the lapband I'd get a blender or juicer to help with the veggie consumption.
Also if this is your first time on keto I wouldn't recommend a cheat meal until week 3. Body needs time to be proficient at burning body fat/fat sources as fuel.0 -
Thanks for the info -- I am new to this. I've been following the Atkins guidelines because they were pretty straightforward. I don't think I can stay at 20g of carbs a day because I get sick of just protein and vegetables. I've done this before, and after a few weeks I literally want to puke after looking at meat and vegetables yet again. It's just not sustainable for me. I think adding fruits and nuts would give me just enough variety.
I'll have to see about a juicer. Good idea.0
