weight lifting hiatus

Life got in the way and I just took a 3 week break from lifting (traveling out of the country with no gym access, sinus infection with fever etc.) While I was traveling, I was still pretty active (30-50k steps a day, hiking, running etc).

How do I know how heavy to lift at the gym tomorrow? How much strength have I lost? I feel like a lot, but that could also be from being sick.

Whenever I take time off, I use the same weights where I stopped. It usually works for me.

I went away for a month and didn't have a chance to do any weights. I went right back down to just the bar for most weights. It was disappointing at first but it took a few weeks and I was back where I started. I really did notice a general lack in fitness without the weights each week. I also felt it for a few days after starting back up again, my legs were super achy.

I can pick up where I left off but I am much more sore afterwards so I do alot of extra stretching afterwards.

Came back from holiday and started at one weight down from where I was previously. Was back up within three sessions. No problems. The holiday itself acted as a small reset and I am now losing again. Good luck!
