I think its time to start over

So after struggling with week 5 for weeks and pretty much stopping all together in the last week I've decided its time to start over & do it outside this time. I've been having a few different issues lately, adjusting to new puffers for my breathing problems and the heat (its been in the high 80s or above for the last 2 weeks here) have made it difficult. Now on top of that I made the mistake of walking in flipflops and completely throwing my knees out of whack. So for the last 3 days I've worn nothing but my sneakers with my orthotics in them so the knees are getting better, thank goodness. I'm feeling like I let myself down a bit but at least I'm still trying.

Has anyone else had to start over? if you did were you able to get past the point that stopped you the first time?

My suggestion for you is to look over why you were struggling. What was the cause? Were you going too fast maybe? Was it form? Do you have proper shoes? What was your diet like? Were you staying hydrated? Are you in this mentally?

Week 5 is the mental barrer. That week is the week that the nasty thoughts seriously start to trickle in. Want to know a secret? They will trickle in from time to time even after you become an experienced runner. The key is to catch it before it happens and redirect your train of thought.

When you restart remember to go as slow as you can. If you think you can run slower then you probably can, and should. The key is to finish the program, not how fast you can run. Keep trying, you will get there.

I'm going to remember this! Speed has been my nemesis till now. No longer am I trying to get there faster. Now, I'm just trying to get there. Week 2, 3, 4, whenever my body is willing, Then there I will be.

David Carradine seems to be whispering in my ear.

Listen to rduhlir. I was about to give up and start over after I had a bout with a sinus infection and bronchitis earlier this month. She helped me figure out how to give myself what I needed without losing confidence in myself.

I know that you are running pretty slowly. Are you wheezing when you stop, is it that you are tired or are you cramping/in pain?

Carbs and hydration are the other keys. I had a great three mile run in the rain earlier tonight and am considering hydrating with Gatorade 0 before my runs - I'm not sure water is doing it in the Atlanta heat.
