Hi all! As members get added, I am hoping that you would take a minute to introduce yourself with name, whatever info you want to share about yourself, your fitness goals, and what exercise program or routines you are doing or enjoy. I will obviously go first, please feel free to add or ask questions.
My name is Lisa, I'm 33 years old and have 3 children, ages 7, 3, and 1. My story of being overweight goes back since I was about 8 or 9. Never really heavy but always thick. I was pretty active with dance and cheerleading until I went to college. There I was just a yo-yo, depending on my extra curricular activities. Fitness was never a goal. Senior year I met my husband who has the metabolism of a racehorse and things really went downhill. Long story short, since I met him in 2001 my weight has gone from 140 to 180 to 225 (each time I delivered a baby so 3x). I would always settle in around 185-190 after pregnancy and each time I would get any motivation to lose it, I got pregnant again. But not this time My goal is to get back to 140 and reassess from there. I really want to be able to take my kids to swimming lessons and the water park. Honestly up til this point I've been too embarrassed and I don't want my children to miss out because of my insecurities. I got back into fitness in March of 2013 and have lost 32 pounds. I've tried quite a few programs over the years from Rockin Body, 30 day shred, Billy Blanks Tae-Bo and I now doing Turbo Fire. I REALLY love it...borderline addiction so I really think that I can do it this time and I'm just looking for some people to be successful with me
ok your turn!

Greetings! J here, 33 yo, M, 6' 1", 235 lbs. Looking to stay motivated to get to 200. A couple of years ago was right at the 280 mark. I've had heaps of set backs (surgery, surgery and more). Last round knocked me out of anything until around January this year (knees) and I managed to stay under the 250 mark lol. I'm currently doing the 5:2 diet and tracking my information as best as possible. So, here I am to help keep track and meet some like minded individuals so we can help each other be the better we! lol
Good Luck!

I got electrocuted a few years back which gave me spine and brain damage and whatever else, and so I am trying to get more capable in general as well as lose weight. I was doing okay until my job of 17 years ended (with the death of the employer) and we moved maybe six months ago to a weird condoland with no nearby downtown or anything to make me feel connected to a place to walk to everyday, etc., which I miss. Transportation is zero except when my partner is here on weekends, and usually those are either too busy or for one of us to catch up on medical appts. etc. Recently I am having a crummy time with being like a teenager again in the sense of staying home out of the hot sun and serious lightning storms, reading, and at night eating (organic or non-GMO/BGH, with no added chemicals) ice cream--which I used to eat but genuinely have hardly even bothered to have in the house for most of the last couple of decades. I think it's just a lifestyle thing, feeling as helpless as I did as a teenager but now with added brain damage! Oh well! I am figuring it out, eating organic carrots and raw organic flaxseeds every day too as snacks, and some good very dark chocolate now and again, although I have sort of lost my life-long taste for it. I think a lot of it has to do with hormones etc., and am going to see a new doctor in a couple of weeks. I do see an excellent Chinese doctor maybe once a week in New York City, and that helps a lot with the neurological and skeletal stuff etc. I have had terrible headaches the last few weeks too which have really been dragging me down, despite me trying to get enough water and keeping the caffeine steady--0

I'm really glad to have you both as part of the group. Your goals are so realistic and I think success is possible in both your cases. I hope that I can provide support along the way! Please feel free to post topics in here and jump in on anything as I get this group of the ground. Invite your friends and make suggestions, I'm totally open to anything0

My name is Kim, 28 years old, 5'7" and currently 200 pounds. I started this leg of my weight loss journey at 230. My highest weight ever was 270 and from there I did get down to 178 in about a year. Then I started slacking and finally lost my job for no reason and ended up putting a significant portion of the weight I had lost back on. I'm proud that I didn't let myself get back up to my highest weight before stopping and doing something about it but I hate that I slacked enough to put back on what I did.
My weight loss goal currently is to get down to around 155 because that would put me in a healthy BMI for my weight. I"m starting to think I might reevaluate this goal as time goes on. I don't want to get too small. I tend to put on muscle faster than some women and everyone thinks I'm insane when I say ideally I should lose another 45 pounds. Currently I still weigh in as obsese on their BMI scale. BMI might not be what I should base my healthy weight on. I'm currently a size 12 and never had dreams smaller than an 8. If I lose sizes the way I did at the beginning I'd be down to a size 4 at that weight. I have broad shoulders and curvy hips so I think I'm going to base my goal weight on what looks best on my frame - not what the experts say I should weigh.
Currently I'm doing the Insanity workout and just started month 2. It's pretty intense. I also walk in the evenings because I enjoy getting active for a second time in the day. I'm working on the last class of my Master's degree which involves writing a lengthy research paper so I spend a great deal of my days sitting in front of a computer. My diet plan isn't a diet so much as being portion control. I eat what I want for the most part while trying to incorporate plenty of fruits and veggies. I have found that I get sick to my stomach anymore if I eat too many rich foods, or too many sugary foods. This is helpful to keep me on track. I indulge in a small way due to the desire to keep from making myself sick.0 -
Thabks for joining the group and sharing your story! Insanity is on my to do list so I'm excited to hear about your results! Do you follow the schedule? I do BB challenge groups as well as mfp so msg me if you're ever interested. And I have to agree with you on the personal comfort versus the scale numbers. I think beauty and confidence come in all sizes and its it up to you to figure out where you're most confident at. Your goals are definitely reachable and you are definitely motivated so we are happy to have you involved in the group!0

I do follow the Insanity schedule (well I did skip one day of the recovery week but since you do the same workout 6 days in a row I don't figure that's an issue). I'm not doing the Insanity food plan though. It's just not practical for me. I know I wouldn't follow it for long and I'd rather make changes in my diet that I can sustain. If this is the way I'm going to be eating for the rest of my life I want to make sure I can enjoy my favorite foods.
Today I did decide to change my initial goal weight. I did some research and looked at some calculators online and I want to see how 175 looks on my frame before I attempt to get to 155. I may decide this is where I need to be. I'm losing weight differently this time than I did last time so 175 might look drastically different than 178 did a few years ago. That would drop my body fat % down to the healthy range which I think is more important than being so concerned with my BMI. I have to consider my body type when deciding how much to lose I think.

Hi all, my name is Jennie, I am 35 and live in Staffordshire in the UK. I work full time although am currently on Maternity Leave and have 2 children (12yrs and 15 weeks) and a wonderful partner called Joe.
I was always a skinny child but started slowly putting weight on when I went to university by partying and eating the wrong food! It has slowly crept on over the years and escalated when I lost a baby in 2011, Lily was delivered at 33 weeks gestation and died shortly afterwards. After this I comfort ate for 9 months until I became pregnant again and so I now need to lose that weight plus my pregnancy weight from the birth of my son 15 weeks ago.
I am currently 176lbs and my first goal is my son Harry's christening on 28th July, 30 days away. I aim to lose 8lbs by counting calories and doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. I am on day 2 and my god I thought it hurt yesterday but trying to do the workout with aching muscles this morning was agony!! I did it though and am determined to keep it up. After I have achieved this I will set my next goal but my overall aim is to lose 28lbs and then who knows!!
Can't wait to help motivate others in this group and hope that everyone else will help me stay focused.
Best of luck everyone.

Hi Jennie and welcome to the group!!! It's great to have you. First, let me congratulate you on the birth of your son! He is such a cutie and please let me offer condolances for your Lily! Such a tragedy and you are a very strong woman to pick yourself up from that. And third, 30 day shred is tough but you do get results. I was using it before I got pregnant with my Lily and it did work pretty well. You're goals sound great and super realistic! I'm glad we can help each other along the way!0 -
Hi my name is Cristina & I'm a 33 yr old mother of 2 girls ages 9 & 5 & going on 10 yrs of marriage this month. Growing up I never had an issue with my weight until I went to college & was living on my own. After I graduated I lost the weight but then might my husband & then the weight came back on. I had my first daughter in 2003 & gained 60lbs with her, & lost about 30 of it & then daughter #2 came & then came the extra lbs. And now here she is 5yrs old & I'm no where near where I should be in my weight.
This year I decided this is it, I'm taking control of my weight! It is not going to define me anymore, I've had enough of being jealous of all the skinny girls around me in their bikini's & cute summer dresses. So I started out going to Zumba at the gym & I did that for about 4 months until I hurt my knee & I haven't been back. I also went Vegan during lent, at the same time I was doing Zumba so during that time I dropped 20lbs. After lent I went back to eating meat & dairy & started P90X & bike riding. I'm on my 3rd week of P90X & so far I can see results already!
Thanks for the invite to join this group!!0 -
Hi MFPeeps! I am a school counselor/grad student in the middle of summer vacation. I'm currently crushing Insanity and filling this extra free time with some biking, swimming, and lots of healthy cooking. I hate to rub it in, but it's soooooooo nice.
I'm looking forward to the challenges and would always love to cheer you on!
Best wishes, Holly0 -
Hello everyone!! I'm a grad student as well. Currently, I'm doing 30 day shred and just signed up for boot camp classes to speed up this weight loss and toning. I enjoy hiking and cycling classes as cardio and I use 30DS and youtube videos for strength training. My biggest improvement will need to be my diet, especially the carbs. I lost a lot of weight last year by eating all my carbs early in the day. My goal is to start doing that again and remain on a consistent workout schedule.0

I was at my highest weight in June of 2012 and now I'm almost back down to my lowest high school weight (yeah!). I hope to continue my weight loss and be in the best shape of m life and keep it that way! I'm currently rocking turbofire and I love it. I'm also in Lisa's first challenge group so keep an eye out for my updates!0
