Is a refeed necessary?

I started pretty hardcore keto but now I'm eating about 100g of carbs/day (still high fat and moderate protein) but I'm wondering if a refeed is even necessary? I regularly lose, so no stalls.... and 100g/day allows me to pretty much eat a little bit of anything. I try to keep it mostly veggies and fruit but and ice cream and some french fries have been known to make the occasional appearance :p. Would I benefit from a a refeed or is it just an excuse to have a "cheat day" at this point? lol

I'm not too familiar with refeeds. If you are successfully losing and not stalling, then I don't see the reason for a refeed. Awhile back I was eating at around 50 carbs and plateaued. I ate like crap for a few days, and then the weight started coming off again. I wont attempt to do a refeed until I reach that point again. (I'm currently doing keto).

I am not sure with that daily carb level if you need a refeed or not. Since those in this forum are going to be very low carb, as keto is under 25-30g/day usually. You might want to ask the question in one of the low carb forums. I bet you'll be able to find more people who are eating at the level you are, and provide better insight and experience. :)

Here's what Mark's Daily Apple has to say:
The purpose, as I see it, of carb refeeds is the restoration of leptin levels in the dieter. As we know, caloric restriction reduces leptin levels. With lower leptin comes increased hunger and reduced adherence to a diet. Cravings arise. Energy wanes, immunity suffers. The lack of leptin elicits the cascade of hormones that down regulate metabolism and energy expenditure. Your muscles use less energy and become more efficient – but weaker and less effective. Menstruation and fertility become issues. Dropping calories even more just makes the problem worse. You need to restore leptin, at least for a bit, to right the path. A carb refeed can help you achieve this.

Who needs to refeed? No one “needs” a carb refeed, especially if he or she is feeling good, looking good, and continuing to lose weight with plenty of energy. I never consciously stuff myself with carbs, and I’m doing okay. Remember, too, that a low-carb eating plan doesn’t equal a low calorie eating plan. If your weight loss has stalled, however, and hunger is a constant issue, no matter the depths of your caloric restriction, it may be wise to consider a periodic carbohydrate refeed. If you lack energy throughout the day and your immune system is suffering, you might need to restore your leptin levels with a carb refeed.

Thanks guys! I was just reading the refeed info on MDA and I've decided that a refeed is absolutely unnecessary for me. I still have lots of fat, and therefore lots of leptin so my sensitivity is the issue, not low levels. A refeed would actually be the LAST thing I want to do :p I appreciate everyone's thoughts :)
