Pan/omni people? :)

Let me introduce myself! I am Brittany, I'm 2 weeks off of being 21, I am engaged to a wonderful, incredible, handsome man named Nick.
Since about 12 I have identified as bisexual. When, at around 17, I realized that not all bisexual people were okay dating FTM, MTF, genderqueer, nongender, etc. people, I realized that perhaps I am not "just" bisexual. So it turns out I'm omnisexual. Who knew?
For those of you that haven't heard of pansexual or omnisexual (though I am confident at least 99 percent of you have) it is basically as I described above. Attractiveness or feelings do not depend on someone's gender, or lack thereof. I basically don't care what's in your pants, or what was in your pants, or what WILL be in your pants, I just care what's in your head and your heart
Anyway, I feel like pan/omni people are forgotten or that we are a minority, even in the LGBT+ group!
Are there other users out there that identify as pan/omni?
xx Brittany

I suppose that pan or omni would be the best description for me. I identified as bisexual for many years, but I eventually realized that the definition didn't fit. All I know is that sex or gender seems to be my last possible consideration when I find someone attractive. I've dated men, women, and MTF.
Most of the time when people ask, I just say that I don't like labels and I don't discriminate.0 -
Wow. I have honestly never heard of this before. Is this a newer term or just not as often discussed as other LGBT terms?
I personally always considered myself bisexual, but your description of your sexuality sounds very VERY familiar. Lol. But I don't like labels either and typically don't call myself anything. Especially now because my male fiance doesn't understand how I can be bisexual if I'm marrying him.
So I don't use any word for it anymore. I just say: I wasn't looking for a man or a woman. I was looking for love. I found it. The end.

Not sure if it's new. It isn't talked about a lot, I guess, which is why I feel like a minority! Haha. I don't really care much about labels and sometimes, for the sake of it being easier, I say I am bisexual. But I do identify as omnisexual simply to have somewhere I feel like I "belong". It can be frustrating to feel like you don't "fit" straight, but you don't "fit" gay, and you don't really "fit" bi, either. So, just nice to have a name, you know? lol
My fiance knew I was "bi" at first, but I met him when I was 17 and that's when I figured out I wasn't quite bi. He's quite alright with it.0 -

That's lovely.0 -
It's definitely a new term that's cropped up in the last 10 years. I identify as pansexual and I have dated men, trans*men, women, and genderqueer identifiers. It's a lot easier identifying as pan as opposed to "bi," because there's so much negative stigma surrounding the bi label. (I'm also attracted to more androgynous people in general, so it makes a lot of sense to me to include the trans* community and the gender variant community in my identification -- simply put, I CAN LOVE ANYBODY!)
I'm currently in an almost 9-month relationship with a lesbian who presents as female/genderqueer and I couldn't be happier.0 -
I prefer to use "queer" for myself. "Pansexual" always makes me think of hippies or something. :flowerforyou:
But I'm in the same boat as you, attraction-wise. There's plenty of people I'm NOT attracted to, but the ones I am don't necessarily share many common denominators. I stopped trying to narrow it down years ago!0 -
I never heard of that and I am a LGBT Program Manager at a Agency in the US Federal Govt. But its always good to know new Acronyms.
As for myself I am 100% Bisexual. I have dated Women and Men. I am currently engaged to a man and we are getting married next month.
