Weaning soon!

So after a failed attempt with my first son, me and my daughter have made it to a year of nursing! Whooo!! I have been able to drop 40 pounds while nursing her. I am already down to nursing her only once in the morning and figure the next step will be to completely stop. After loosing all that weight, I am kinda nervous about what weaning will do to me. Not sure what to expect about the changes it will have on me. Anyone loose or gain a ton of weight after weaning?

I never actually weaned, my daughter kept on until she was three and I was four month pregnant. I was more easily able to lose weight after my daughter turned 18 months and was nursing much less. It seemed like before that I had a harder time, though I think it was mental more than anything to be honest. I have heard of people gaining weight when they wean, but that usually doesn't happen when you gradually wean like it sounds you are doing.

If you're only nursing once a day, you're probably not producing that much --> not a huge calorie burn. If you're compensating in your food intake for a nursing-related calorie burn, I'd cut down by maybe 100-150 and see how it goes, assuming your current intake isn't super low. The upside is, as rubyann said, that if you have more to lose, it should be a bit easier once you wean :)

Personally, I can't say, though; I'm only basing this on common sense and what I've read here of others' experiences. BFing worked out horribly the first time, and I'm EBFinh this time - but my son is not quite 8 weeks old!

It has been a week since I weaned my son. I became immediately bloated but it could also be due to me eating out more frequently that week than I normally do. Anyway so far I gained about 3lbs during the bloated stage and now I lost those lbs and maintained the weight I was right before I weaned.
