Anyone caught LoS? I watched it a few evenings back, and I was actually impressed. RZ's work is certainly divisive, but over all I enjoyed LoS. Anyone else seen it, and what did you think?

  • Though you already know a great deal of my thoughts already on the movie, I'll reply anyway. :P

I actually read something on another forum that said the movie would probably be less disliked if the director wasn't RZ and I can see how that might be true. I certainly felt disappointment when House of 1000 Corpses first came out and it wasn't the epic movie that everyone expected from RZ. I've learned to appreciate it more now though, more for what it is, and maybe that's why I also enjoyed Lords of Salem. The movie isn't a masterpiece, but it's not a bad movie either. Maybe I'd classify it as being slightly above average.

I'd honestly love to see what RZ could do if he wasn't trying to do a homage or remake. The guy definitely has some weird and interesting ideas going around in that head of his. I just wish he'd focus on them instead of leaning against the idea of one of his favorite movies and adding in his own ideas and his wife.
