I think my Dr. is just playing a guessing game with me!

So I have changed dr's a few times and finally found one I like, except here lately it is like he is guessing about how to handle me. My periods have never been normal, but I am trying to get them straight so that I can try to conceive in about a year. I have high blood pressure so the birth control pill is not a good option for me. He tried to put me on mirena but it was causing severe cramps and I did not do well with it. I am on thyroid medication as well as blood pressure meds. Wednesday he put me on a medication that is supposed to thin out my uterual lining because I was having excessive bleeding (a 4 week period is not fun). He said that in 3 months if this isnt working for me we will have to do a scrape to test for endometrial cancer or do a dnc depending on where I am with it. He said the next step would be a full hysterectamy. I am 27 years old no kids yet and about to be married...really not wanting to do the hystarectamy. Anyway, does anyone know of any natural vitamins I could take to help make my cycles normal or reduce hertiuism or help with blood pressure? Metformin is not an option for me either.

What???? Are you having symptoms that are bad enough to WANT a hysterectomy? There must be something more going on here.

Honestly, the truth is that the best thing you can do for your PCOS is to lose weight. Not sure where you are in the process, or whether you have much to lose, but if you eat less and focus on getting adequate protein and fats, and move more, you will see changes in your cycle and other symptoms.

    Good luck!

He's thinking it may be endometrial cancer. I just started seriously trying to lose weight on June 21st I'm down 11 pounds so far. My next apt with that dr is in Sept and I'm trying to be down another 24 lbs by then so that he knows I'm serious and also to see if any of my symptoms are going away. He just put me on a hormone pill, and so far I feel so much better! I sleep a lot better and longer, but I wake up wide awake and ready to accomplish things. Hopefully this is going to have a happy ending. I by no means want a hysterectomy...the urge to have a child is so much stronger than the bothersome symptoms. Maybe he was just trying to scare me into losing weight, and if that is the case he did a good job.

healthy low carb/low gi diet, regular exercise (5 times per week if possible) and a healthy lifestyle is the best answer i can give you for PCOS!! Unless there is a serious underlying cause like cancer that it seems he has no evidence for then a hysterectomy is a RIDICULOUS suggestion. My periods are now normal after losing weight and changing my lifestyle habits.

I went on various hormone pills- they work for a while but long term they tend to mess up your hormone balances even more. I don't know your individual circumstances but if its simple PCOS and hormone issues I would recommend getting OFF hormones pills, losing the weight, working out regularly (this is not just to lose weight but to help with insulin resistance), and cut out sugar and processed foods.

Hope this helps and all the luck in the world to you :) xx
