Low Fiber Diet?

I'm going in for a colonoscopy next week and I'm supposed to eat a "low fiber diet." The list of foods I can and can't eat make absolutely no sense whatsoever. I can eat applesauce but can't eat an apple - huh?!
Has anyone else had to eat a low fiber diet for two days and fast one day before their colonoscopy? What did you eat? (BTW - I'm a vegetarian).

I don't remember what my instructions were, but I did a liquid diet for 3 or 4 days before the day I had to prep for the colonoscopy. The record said that my prep the time before was fair, and I wanted a good prep so that doc could get a really good look at my colon. I did it; excellent prep!0

For me, I have to eat a low fiber diet 2 days before and then the day before it is liquid until I start drinking the prep, then I don't want to drink any more than I have to. HA
A low fiber diet is basically anything that will easily go thru the colon so that it goes out quickly. Apples have fiber in it, where as applesauce has been cooked down to mush and the fiber is in small particles now.
Think of it as a soft diet. Let me know if you have any questions. I get my colonoscopy every year, faithfully. Just had my 4th one in 4 years.0
