    Hey all!

Ugh, it is a scorcher in Athens today!! I have both kids today and they've worked me over. I think the heat has gotten to them too. The lil one is grumpy even though she has slept and eaten fine. The heat does strange things to people. I really do not intend to do anything today. I've suggested to my husband that we go to the beach in the evening after the sun loses it's strength, just so we can get in the water and cool off. It will likely be way too crowded, but we've got to do something to cool off and get out of the house without frying.

So July is ending! Time to think about August and set some goals, or make a plan. I think August will be a patchwork of activity for me. DH will be off work, but we'll all likely stay in Athens this year. I had hoped DH & son would go on a guy vacation and give me time to sort closets and get rid of toys, etc before we gear back up for work & school in September. But I guess I'm out-of-luck on that. Anyway, I'll do what I can with DH's help to get acquainted with weight lifting and hopefully with him here with the kids, I'll get some runs done too, but if it's too hot, well I won't worry about it that much. For me, I just want to stay active in August, because the real work begins in September, when life returns to normal again with school & work (and slightly lower temps).

Have a great day, and a great last day of July!!

    ^^^ Too, too cute!

I worked a graveyard shift last night, and somehow wasn't completely exhausted when I got home and did a round of C25K. I took a different route than my usual one, and while there was a bit more traffic, it was not so much that it would deter me from running it again. It was nice to switch it up. My knees are a little swollen, one more than the other. There's no pain, I can just feel the tightness. I'm about to try to catch a wink of sleep before the kiddos get up. Maybe I'll get an hour nap. *fingers crossed*

Funny cartoon. I feel same way about heat makes me want to hide inside.

We are having a few days of cooling down and cloudy and maybe thunder and lightning again. Muggy. Far from cold just not high 90's.

I work part time today and will swim after. Looking forward to the day.

Started with hanging knee lifts in which I managed 3 sets of 10 reps, the 2nd two sets were to the sides. Next attempted hanging dips where I was able to hang for longer and did a partial dip.

I followed that with RushFit Abs & conditioning DVD using 6, 8, 10 lbs weights. I used a bridge instead of a back bend.

Ooo, ooo, glad you said that! How do you do the hanging knee lifts? I have no equip to do leg extension, so I'm wondering how I can re-enact it. As for hanging dips, if those are what I think they are, I don't think I have the strength to do those anyway, will have to work up to them.

Liz, I'm starting to feel more confident about running in the real world where there is traffic, instead of at the park. It'd be so much more convenient for me than to have to haul all the way to the park to run. There's a big highway on the way to the park that has local lanes with sidewalks that I might start to run. There are a few cross streets, but it's really not that bad. There are also pedestrian tunnels every few block which I could run if I feel like doing the stair and/or the ramps. Only thing is: I already bought a new pair of trailrunners, so I've been trying to convince DH that I also need a pair of street runners. He is not enthused.

Marla, days like today, I imagine you swimming and how cool and refreshing the water must be. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

So, DH decided no beach today, that we needed to experience some air conditioning STAT...so we hit the mall, with A LOT of other weary people. Anyway, due to the opening hours of shops in Greece (it's weird b/c they close on certain days for a few hours and then re-open, but not on other days), we decided the beach would be less busy tomorrow. I hope he's right about that. But okay, I got no swimming, but got more walking done. It all evens out. Overall, not bad for a day in which I was too hot & sweaty to even swat at a mosquito that was buzzing me. lol!

    See ya next month! ;-)

Sherry, do leg lifts from the floor & dips with feet on the floor with bent legs while hanging onto the edge of a chair. I spent many months doing these. With the dips you progress to straight legs, then feet on an 2nd chair. Next you raise 1 leg in the air while dipping.

I am using what's called a Power Tower. It's only recently I got strong enough to try it. I got it on sale for just over $100 Canadian. The front folds so it does not take much space. It has a place to brace your upper arms & back while you raise legs. It also has handles to hang on to to do dips.

For leg raises you could also hold yourself between two chairs. There are online videos on this.

I'm back! So, I got about a two hour nap this morning before the kiddos said that was enough. I decided to take a trip into "town" (about 30 miles away) and get my front driver side tire repaired because it had a nail in it that was causing a slow leak. I bought my tires at Discount Tire, so it's free repairs with road hazard. Once that was done, the kids and I went to a nearby hiking/biking paved trail that I found online. My oldest rode his bicycle while I pushed the other two in the jogging stroller, which I happened to forget to air up the tires on. THAT made for an interesting walk. Lots of sweat and water and about an hour later, we walked 3.65 mi. So, I'm clocking in at 6.5 mi today for running/walking. I'm going to sleep GOOD tonight!
