Is keto good for prepping for marathon?
I believe for marathons you need a lot of glycogen from carbs?

Definitely a no go...
Your body will breakdown proteins (muscles) in your body if no Carbs are provided.
I did my military physical test with no Carbs was felt drained after my 1.5 mile run.
Keto is not good for long distance endurance runs or very high intensity workouts.0 -
I've seen a few articles on this. I think the key is that you have to be keto adapted, which can take 2-3 weeks of keto to achieve. Once your body is using fat for fuel, you have much greater stores of energy available to you for endurance activities. Check out the book "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance" by Phinney and Volek.

I believe the conclusion from Phinney and Volek is that keto is the ideal diet for endurance activities. Provided that you are keto adapted.0
