Hi all!
"Rest day" today, but about to head out on a walk with the family. Most weekends we take at least one walk through Plaka to our favorite gelato place. I don't always get ice cream, it's mostly for the kids, but sometimes I feel like it. I hope everyone else is thoroughly enjoying the weekend!0 -
Hey everyone!
Sherry, thank you for that graphic reminder this week...lol! Enjoy your stroll with the family, too.
I made a PSA on NewsFeed this morning and may have stepped on a few ladies toes that are doing cardio only... I feel so strongly about women needing to add strength training because the young ones will definitely need those muscles by the time they hit 40! Then they will start to lose those muscles VERY quickly and have to work extra hard to get them back.
It's another rest day and I will chill today. Everyone have a blessed Sunday!0 -
Did TUFF Lower Body 1 workout. Managed DBs of 50 lbs for dead lift. I am hoping to reach goal of dead lifting body weight soon.0

Sherry - I agree on today's poster! Hard to remember sometimes. BTW, gelato sounds like heaven!
Pam - I agree with the weight lifting. I'm trying to get my older sister (45yo this November) to get more active and suggested weight lifting because she is concerned about osteoporosis (sp?).
Donna - That is awesome! I would also like to dead lift my body weight. I am gradually increasing and did 1x5 of 125 lbs today. I also did 5x5 of 65 lbs on my overhead press, which was KILLER! My upper body is so puny. So, SL5x5 today, hoping to combat the two slices of homemade chocolate cake I made for my stepson's birthday.0 -
That's sounds pretty good to me. Yes, it seems upper strength is the hard part. If I can just get my weaker left shoulder to cooperate I could move up in weight there too. :ohwell: I will keep at it.0

You ladies are STRONG!
Liz, I sure hope that your sister takes your advice. Do you know that I was diagnosed with early stages of osteoporosis near the lower pelvic area a few years ago (prior to exercising and especially strength training)? Just last November it was non-existent!! I give major props to the strength training. Pass this info on to your sister if you like.
You are lifting heavy for sure. Do you workout at home or at the gym? Forgive me if you told us this already.0 -

Pam, I understand completely. Of course, to each their own. But it would have been nice if someone would have told me "back in th' day". I never knew there was any other way to slim down but by very low calorie dieting...so I wasted away tons of muscle that way, through the years (not to mention the time I wasted laying in bed because I was too weak & undernourished to do anything--dark days, i tell ya - smh).
But anyway, cardio, endurance, interval, strength, flexibility, competitive sports, fun, & dance: any and all fitness efforts are welcome!!!0 -
Hi all too busy to write yesterday.
Today my only day off till Wednesday I decided I had to get out. Walls of small office closing in!
I went alone on snow creek trail and hiked for 2 1/2 hrs. There are two well traveled trails that I feel safe going alone on.
Had a great time, felt so good to be out. Hiked up to where river goes along trail and had a great place to rest. I barely went up trail, it is main route to backpacking to many lakes.0
