Welcome. I had the sleeve done on July 8. You'll find lots of help and support here.0

Congrats! Though I had rny instead of the sleeve, the sleeve was my first choice. I had other health issues and my surgeon and I felt that bypass was right for me. Hope all goes well with your insurance and with the surgery itself! It's a life changing experience and I have no regrets. This is a great group and lots of support here!0

Good luck with everything.0

Good Luck I had the lap band done Nov 20,2012 and have lost 94 pounds and still have 106 to lose. It was the best think I have ever done just for me.0

Hi,
I'm scheduled for my first consultation in 9 days for the sleeve. I've been on the fence about surgical weight loss for 7 years, but now I'm finally ready to take that scary step forward.
Feel free to add me and we can support each other through this.0 -
Hello, I'm new too....I am just starting the process. I have to wait until fall for the surgery so that medicare will cover. So I'm doing the pre- stuff now. Meeting about diet, etc. Hoping to have everything ready and be on track for the surgery when the time is ok'd by insurance. Glad there is support here. A little nervous about what to eat afterward.0

Kudos to all of you who are at the beginning of the pre-surgery process. I kept my ongoing notebook for all of the appointments and tests and milestones (approvals!) that happen along the way. I was a little apprehensive to start, but with each step through the process I felt more and more sure of my decision. Now a week out of surgery and I'm still glad I kept at it since my first decision point back in January.0

Thanks...I'm having the bypass surgery unless there are too many adhesions from past surgeries. Then I'll have the sleeve. It is so good to have the support of those that have already had the surgery. Did you need to purchase a food processor or blender to make your food for immediately after surgery?? I have heard that there will be shakes, but then softer foods. What did you do??0

For my shakes, I have a shaker cup made by Bariatric Advantage and use their meal replacement protein powder shakes. They shake up well and aren't gritty. I do have a processor, but honestly did not use it pre surgery or post surgery. The first week after surgery I got my protein and liquids (I was on clear liquid that week) by using Isopure clear--it's flavored protein enhanced water, sugar free and tastes a bit like Kool Aid.) I also used diluted juices and broth to get some calories in. The week after, for me, was full liquid and used Carnation Instant breakfast, my protein shakes with skim milk (or unsweetened almond milk) and other things like cream soup, etc. The next stage at soft foods I ate eggs, "runny" oatmeal, cream of wheat, grits, etc. and anything that didn't need much chewing. For me, everything progressed weekly and I was glad when I reached the point where I could eat solid food. I tired quickly of cream soups, jello, and puddings. Oh, Greek yogurt is still one of my mainstays. I never really did see much need for my food processor and most of the time, still, it stays tucked nicely away in my pantry. Hope this helps. Feel free to add me as a friend. I am on here every day, am 10 months post op, and complete my diary daily.0 -

I never used a food processor. My post surgery plan was 2 weeks of what they called liquid but included yogurt, crème soups, pudding, jello, protein drinks. The next two weeks was pureed (baby food consistency) and I used an immersion blender or my ninja for this. After that was soft foods working into all foods. Honestly, for the most part during the pureed stage I just tried to stay with things that did not require too much work. It was only two weeks and made me appreciate that first meatball all that much more .
Best luck on your journey. You are more than welcome to add me. I too am here every day.0
