Good morning!
Sorry I have not checked in for awhile. I have still been "doing my thing' but I have been slacking at posting. It is Monday yet again and soon it will be fall....NO!!
Weekend exercise was a 5K run on Saturday and a 10K run on Sunday. Feeling quite good about the Sunday run, its been awhile since I've done a long one. Tonight I am hoping to get in 6K maybe, it is giving rain for Tues/Wed so should do it tonight and maybe take one of those days off as rest.
Working all week, so will probably get my posts in bright and early!0 -
Hi Maureen! I'm actually excited for Fall, it's one of my favorite times of year. I don't want Summer to be over b/c I love Summer, but Fall always signified a fresh start to me (I guess b/c of school starting). Great job with your running! By the way, where do you run when you take a long run? Do you run it as one big long distance, or laps around a neighborhood, or other??? I think I need to find a way to not get bored running, so that I can run for longer. I really enjoy it (even though I'm slacking now, during vacay).
We had an exhausting day, just dealing with the kids. Took them to their great-grandmother's, and then downtown b/c DH had some work to do (can you believe it?!?! AND he has to go do work at the office tomorrow too!! Some vacation, huh?). Anyway, I kept the kids busy at a store with a cafe and book and game sections. We are exhausted and may skip our usual outting in the neighborhood for the kids to play, since they are pretty tired too.
I've been thinking alot about the Fall and getting started with real lifting. I'm excited. I wish I could start already, but this time of year is too unpredictable (for example, we made plans today to go back to the beach next week, although I'll have a DDS appt and will be back for that too--so back & forth alot).
Hope everyone's having a great Monday and making progress!0 -
Great job on the runs Maureli!
I definitely understand the difference with fall. I start back to work (after having the summer off) on Thursday, so that will be an interesting change. Funny though, I feel like I got more of my workouts in during the school year. That's going to change though. I'm determined to keep it up!
Today's workout:
I backed up on C25K (actually doing the C210k app) and did W3D1 ( 5 minute warm up walk, 90 sec jog 90 sec walk 3 min jog 3 min walk (repeat all X2) 5 minute cooldown walk. Totals= 10 minutes mod pace walking, 9 minutes brisk walking, 9 minutes run/jogging. I also joined a group called calisthenics for beginners in hopes of increasing my strength training. Today's workout was: 10 squats, 10 pushups (I did them on my stairs..4th from the bottom..gradually working down to floor), 10 lunges ( 5 each leg) , 10 crunches, and as many bicycle leg crunches as you can in 1 set (I did 10 on each side).
Now I'm going to do a few yoga sun salutations for better flexibility and I'll be done with planned exercise for the day.
I'm feeling so good to be back in the game!

Hi DWOP....completed my morning upper body weight lifting session. I pushed hard during the last couple reps of each exercise, too.
Marla, have a great time on the picnic with your hubby today.
Maureen, you running well with those different lengths of runs...keep up the great work. Did you say Fall is coming? It doesn't arrive in Texas until almost Thanksgiving.
Sherry, can't wait to hear how you will like the heavier lifting once started.
Sammy, good job on getting in some strength training and cardio. Keep it going.0 -
Sherry, today's saying is so true.
I admire those of you who can run.
I did an upper body workout this morning and a walk on the treadmill early afternoon.0
