Irregular periods - should I worry?

Hi there,
I have lost 3 stone 3 1/2 lbs (46 1/2 lbs to those outside of UK) since April through using MFP and exercise. My exercise of choice at the moment is walking and I am walking anywhere from 7 - 13 miles most days at around 4 mph (allowing myself 1 or 2 rest days each week)
Recently I have been having lots of "mini periods" in between my main period (which is same as it has always been) - these mini periods last 1/2 a day and then disappear, it wasn't so bad but this month they are happening every 3 days or so - it's only one tampon worth (sorry if that's TMI) but has got me to worrying. I am 38, never had children, not in a sexual relationship (haven't been for 6 months) so doubt it's menopause or an STI - I am seeing the Dr next week but am I overreacting?

Have you had any birth control changes recently?
It's entirely possible that it's related to exercise and diet, especially because you dropped a lot of weight really quickly. Changes in your period should be expected. However, if you're already seeing the doctor next week then definitely mention it. They'll no better than anyone if there is anything to be worried about, and may have a solution if it's bothering you.0 -
Thanks for your reply. Only change in my life has been the diet and exercise, not had any sort of contraception for about 5 years.
I am sure the Dr will check me out and make sure I am ok - everything else about me feels healthy.0 -
You aren't overreacting at all! It sounds like it could be stress on your body caused by a large weight loss in a short space of time. How many calories are you eating?
Definitely go to the drs!0 -
Apparently I have a polyp that needs removing so it was worth going to the Dr and not really to do with my weight loss.0
