I have a 1st grader and I could use some help with variety of good kid friendly cold lunch ideas for school that are more primal. School lunches seem to be getting further and further from what I would want my kids to eat. Not looking to debate school lunch programs just want to increase the percentage of meals that are from quality ingredients.

I have a 1st grader as well. Lucky for me she loves veggies like broccoli. Some days I'll cut up some broccoli, carrots, celery and get those little cherry tomatoes for her lunch (basically like taking a veggie tray) and I'll include some ranch to dip with. She doesn't like bread anyway, unless it's a breadstick from a pizza/italian place, so no sandwiches. I'll get pieces of meat and cheese and send them. She can have dairy, unlike me, and since cheese is a favorite of hers I keep it in her lunches. We also got a little thermos so she can take veggie or chicken "noodle" soup. I've also sent ravioli's in the thermos with her. She did say that they weren't as warm as she liked by time she got to lunch but she did eat it and said they still tasted good.
