Starting today

I am starting the program today with a co worker (hopefully she won't flake), our work has an annual 5k in October and this year we have decided to do it.....I apparently don't know much about running so any pointers/advice would be helpful I have the run double app that I will be using I looked it over some last night but of course didn't want to mess anything up by starting something I shouldn't have....any pointers would be helpful....I would LOVE to eventually work my self up to a Disneyland or Disneyworld run because I love Disneyland :)

I've not used that app but I'm sure someone who has will be along shortly to give some technical pointers!

For general running advise you could do worse than looking at the daily check-in thread as that's where I gleaned most of the information I needed to get me through the programme.

If you stick at it you'll certainly be running that 5k - if I can, anyone can lol

    1) Get fitted for good running shoes
    2) Run as slowly as you can during the run intervals
    3) Make sure you get your rest days in
    4) Check back regularly with us and tell us how you're doing

    Agreed!

And get a good sports bra! Plus figure out where to put your phone and your keys! On my first runs I wore and old pair of capris without pockets, and a shirt without pockets. I ended up putting my phone and keys in one of these money belts you tuck under your clothes. Out of experience: that doesn't work. I now wear running tights with a small pocket in the waistband, and a shirt that has a pocket for my phone. Works out perfectly! Plus, wear light clothes, because you'll heat up a lot!

I agree with the above three posts. Except I run with my phone in my hand because well just because. I do run with the Run Double app and it has been wonderfull so far. I do the timed 5k version and not the distance one.

As for the Disney runs if all other things are equal (like distance etc) then go with the Disney World ones. They are much easier to get into. The Tinkerbell sold out in less then 48 hours this year. My Mom and I will be doing it and the Wine and Dine next year. I've done them in earlier years as a walker and they were AWESOME!!!

I use the Run Double app (am in the 5 to 10k version now). I love it!

I use the distance version for the most part, because I really wanted to be able run a full 5k when I finished the program, no matter how long it took me. That's a matter of personal preference, most people seem to use the timed version.

    +1 on the shoes
    +100 on the SLOW DOWN!

Hi Luulu! I have started C25K today! Completed my first day and survived. If you would like to share the experiences please feel free to add me as a friend! Nice to have a running partner. My first day wasn't too bad, I am using C25Kfree app on my phone.
