What translation do you use?

Translation is strictly a matter of preference, but, out of curiousity, what translation (or paraphrase) of the bible do you use? Do you prefer different translations for daily reading than you do studying?
My go to Bible (most used) is NRSV (New Revised Standard Version). I also use a Life Application Study Bible that is in the New Living Translation (NLT) for more of a read through with some study notes. I have a Jewish New Testament for referencing. The amplified is also fun if I'm curious about word choice in a certain passage.

Hahahhahaha...I could open a bible bookstore here at home!
When The Lord first saved me and set my spirit on fire for Him and Filled me with His Holy Spirit, way back in 1978--I studied The King James Version exclusively. Not because of some "doctrine" or belief, but because that what I was "Led" to do. I took me a good year or so learning to get to "Know" The Lord via His Word--then I was led to study The Living Bible (I'm not sure they make that one anymore--my bibles are as old as dirt...anyhoo, it took me about 6 months or so to get thru the living bible and from there, I moved on to studying from The Amplified Bible...that took me about a year or so to get thru, from there I got my first Greek/Hebrew Key study bible. That thing was $80.00 (which was a king's ransom back in the early 1980's--and you can probably find one for $1.00 now----:noway: ) I NEVER will wink an eye at "selling the Word of God" but that's a whole nother kettle of fish ) anyhoo..it took me about 2 years to get thru that--then I went back to The King James for some time--some long years, from there I got various versions like The New Living Translation, Various 3 and 4 parallel bibles, The Complete Jewish Bible, The Jewish Bible Tanakh The Holy Scrirtures. I still study/read from ALL of these bible, but most consistently come back to The King James Version more often than not for some reason.
I've also studied a multitude of various bible helps, like concordances and more. One of the first things The Lord had me do after I had studied His Word and Got to know and be known of Him when I was young in the Lord (I still am young in the Lord though, even though I've now walked with the Lord longer than I haven't...I still haven't even graduated from pre-school in Him--I learn everyday how VERY wrong I am and how very Right He is daily). Anyhoo, early in my walk, after I knew His Word and He hid it in my heart, the next assignment He gave me was to study church history and the various religions in the world---so that I could not only learn to discern False Prophets and Antichrists in this ole world of ours, but also that I could intelligently talk to anyone about the "reason for The Joy and Hope within me in Christ Jesus), but also so that I could discuss His Word in detail with anyone (in love) and also so as to not be deceived by any. It's The Holy Spirit of God that is/was and always will be my "Teacher" and not man--that may sound strange, but it's true.
So...long story short--these are the versions I study and learn/read from on a daily basis.0 -
I predominantly read from my New International Version. I have the True Images Bible which is mainly geared at teenage girls and has little blurbs of advice. I find it to be kind of... young for me, even though I AM a teenage girl. I've also been reading both the ESV (English Standard Version) and KJV online to supplement that.0

NIV, NASB, NKJB, ESB...whatever I have on hand our house has many Bibles. I guess mostly ESB or NASB.0

Between the hubby and I, we have a collection of bibles as well. Even "the word on the street" a 1970s "slang" paraphrase. lol It's really interesting to know what translation each of you is drawn to though. I think that reading more than one translation (or even just reading verses from them in this group) is helpful in getting a better picture of the truth. No matter the translation though, God is able to stir our hearts.0
