Keto and Dairy

So I've been doing a lot of reading about how, for some people, dairy can interfere with the Keto diet. I am wondering if by dairy, they mean lactose in general? ... Has anyone had an issue with Heavy Cream knocking them out of ketosis? ... what about Bleu Cheese? ... I know Milk is a no-no, but are there any cheeses, yogurts, kefirs, etc... that are safe? Thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated. :)

I don't know enough about the science of it, so I'll just talk about my own personal experience. I will not lose if I have too much cheese. I see people trying to do keto but eating tons of cheese and not having success. Personally, I can do cheese about 2 days a week -- but it's got to be just once a day and a small serving, like a slice or two on a burger, one cheese stick, OR 1 ounce of muenster with eggs. (I read somewhere that muenster is a bit better than other options.) I don't have a problem with heavy whipping cream, again as long as it's once a day. I can do Greek yogurt about once or twice a week, but again can't be an every day thing. I can't do any milk, half-and-half, very little cream cheese, etc.

To me, the only keto-safe daily dairy is: Grass-Fed Butter (I can have multiple servings of Kerrygold Irish butter daily) and organic, farm-fresh Heavy Whipping Cream.

I think this Mark's Daily Apple article has some relevance: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/dairy-intolerance/#axzz2cX5JpZxE

It's definitely a YMMV thing. (Mark is not Keto, he's Primal; but there is a lot of overlap).

I'm in ketosis fine with dairy, and I eat it everyday. Now that's not to say it won't have other effects... just recently I started breaking out on my chin & jaw area. I did a little research and apparently it happens to others on keto too. Some even get a rash! Supposedly it's something about toxins being removed from your body/ intolerance.I'd look into it. I'm gonna cut down on dairy & see how it goes. :)
