I don't feel loved, I've never had a message spanking me about crossfit OR paleo!

My wife and I both do Crossfit and eat Paleo. This totally gave me an idea for what to do Saturday evening. Thanks!

Since you and your wife both do CF, do you take your kids to the box with you? My kids are 4 and 2 and they come almost every time I go.

I live near hippy capital of the East Coast (Cambridge MA) and I bet I could draw a picture of her pretty accurately. Older, thin as a rail, no muscle tone, wearing long flowey dresses and thinking she is saving the world from her laptop.

    In her words:

"BTW, I am not overweight and exercise to stay fit and not start gaining mid-life, as many women in my family have."

    so, basically yeah.

    Stereotypes exist for a reason.

Tell her to lay off the granola to avoid that mid-life gain.

She's at it again. I'm not even sure how she found me this time as I thought she was blocked from this group and when I post about Xfit it's always on my profile which is private to my friends only. Anyways, this was my response...curious to see if she writes back.

"I would appreciate it if you would stop contacting me about this. It has been several times that you have sent me a message now trying to convince me to stop crossfitting. I am perfectly capable of making my own informed and educated decisions about my body, exercises and lifestyle. I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish by trying to discourage anyone who posts about Xfit to stop what they are doing. For the most part, people who do crossfit are very diligent about their form and their fitness progression and take all possible measures to ensure they are not harming their bodies. If I were you I would stop wasting my time because people are going to do what they WANT to do, regardless of you're efforts to stop them.

    Regards,

    Melanie."

    Her response:

"Actually, it has not been a waste of time to encourage people to stay away from Crossfit.

If I can get the information to people before they become addicted, they actually DO take time to read it and sometimes DO make an informed decision not to get involved with Crossfit -- especially when there are so many safer alternatives to getting fit.

Not everyone that's interested in fitness wants to look like a muscle woman! "

Anyways, I am just going to ignore her messages from now on. I can't be bothered.....

Another way to know she's a hippy. Claims people make an informed decision not do Crossfit, but refuses to believe that the 1100 of us in this group made an informed decision to DO Crossfit.

Hippies are all about people sharing opinions, until your opinion disagrees with their opinion.

We don't bring our kids to the box on a regular basis. It can get pretty crazy so working out at the same time with the kids there is not an option.

What I SHOULD have told her was: "that's great! I exercise to be functional."

...why do I always think of the smartest comment when it's too late??!!

Guess I'm back in the rotation.

Replace "Crossfit" below with running, weightlifting, bootcamp, etc. It makes no difference. Something you fail to understand.

My Crossfit Box shares space with a boot camp class. When I arrived at the gym one day last week there was an ambulance out front. One of the boot-campers was doing bear crawls and dislocated his elbow.

You do boot camp, right? In fact you recommended it in one of your previous emails.

    Please remember --

One major boot camp injury will wipe out ALL the benefits you've heard about doing boot camp.

It just takes ONE major boot camp Injury to set you back in ALL your fitness goals.

It just takes ONE major boot camp injury to put you on crutches for months, not even able to walk from the car to your house without assistance

It just takes ONE major boot camp injury to cause a shoulder injury that may require surgery, and put you out of action for any kind of weight lifting for months, or even years.

It just takes ONE major boot camp injury to adversely affect your life for a very long time.

So please think about it. Is calling yourself a boot camper really worth all those risks?

Especially when there are so many safer fitness options?

You are an idiot who only cares about her own opinion, not those of others. Who thinks THEY are the only person in the world suited to make decisions for people. Who thinks that anyone who decides to do something different than her is wrong and needs to be told so.

Do us all a favor and go play in traffic. If we are all lucky a major injury will result.

Notice what a hypocrite she is. She has specifically mentioned doing boot camps and when i tell her someone got horribly injured in a bootcamp at my gym she's like "well we don't do bear crawls in my bootcamp"

Then what the hell do you do? Hug and kiss each other and pick flowers? Isn't boot camp supposed to be the coach pushing you harder than you would push yourself?

And she has not responded so I guess telling her to **** off is a way to get her to stop, at least temporarily.

I've since blocked her, but I had a meniscus tear in my left knee from a boot camp class I took a few years ago. The instructor there did not emphasize form or correct movement and basically just pushed us as hard as we could go. I told her that and she pretty much had nothing to say to me about it. Anyone can be injured doing anything, even walking down the street. Should we stop doing everything we enjoy and live in a bubble for fear of something that *might* happen? Get real.

I know you mean well, but please don't try and convince people to get involved with the Crossfit organization.

The workouts can be extreme, and the coaches very pushy. I know several people that got hurt because the Crossfit coach kept telling them to push when they should have let them take a break. And from all I hear, that sort of thing seems to be pretty common. There are much safer, less dangerous and less expensive ways to get fit than Crossfit.

I would suggest you check out boot camp classes in your area if you are interested in an intense workout with lots of variety. It is probably much less expensive to do boot camp than Crossfit too.

    ....

    and my response:

I know YOU mean well, but please don't try to convince me that Crossfit doesn't help people break barriers and become more than they thought that they could be.

I've heard of you and your alter ego on here, and quite frankly have been awaiting the day that you would dare to message me.

For your information my dear, misguided, stick-your-nose-in-everyone's-business-but-your-own, woman, I have been a member of the Crossfit community for 4 YEARS now. I am the antithesis of your "well thought out" arguments.

    I AM YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE.

And honey, the boot camps are only for middle-aged housewives who don't know any better about what their bodies are capable of.

Dare to message me again with "proof" and I won't be so kind in my response.

Got this message, too. She's PMd me four times in the past year. I had enough so I told her where she can go and I blocked her. She's got to have some kind of agenda. I agree with the poster who said she probably lost her bootcamp clients to CrossFit.
