Looking for advice on intake and changing my goals

Checking in - Weight as of this morning 116.8 lbs
Last week and a half has not been a good gauge for my calorie increase progress. I ended up with pneumonia which I'm still fighting although I do feel better. When I was at my sickest, my calories were below 1500. My activity level was pretty much nil. I stayed in bed. The past five days have been better. I'm closer to my calorie goal and I'm working out some, just not at my usual intensity.
Once I'm back to my usual, active self and eating at goal. I'll update again.0 -
Sorry to hear about your pneumonia. Hope you are on the mend. Thanks for the update.

Checking in.
Weight as of this morning - 115.6 lbs.
Average calories for the week - about 1800.
Activity level is back to normal and I'm lifting five days a week. My weight had stayed between 116.2 and 116.4 until two days ago when it dropped. It looks like the loss has slowed down if I look at the trend over the last 30 days. I've lost 1.8 lbs over the course of the month, unlike the month of June where I lost 4.5 pounds.
Getting a handle on my macros and they've looked pretty good overall. I'm eating more carbs and it shows in strength gains. I was able to do two full pull-ups with no assistance yesterday when previously I couldn't even get one. Weight has gone up on most of my compound lifts as well.0 -
I know ya'll are busy, but I just thought I'd check in again and see what you have to say about another calorie increase?0

Sorry for overlooking this.
Could you up your calories to 1,950 for the next 2 weeks and monitor your progress. If you can get back to us with what your weight did that would be great.0 -
Will do! Still hovering around 115.6 and 116 as of now.0

Just checking in. Weight has been bouncing between 115-116 lbs.
My goal is to put on some muscle. I like where my body fat is at the moment, but I'm not happy with my lean muscle mass. Ideally I'd like to put on a few pounds of muscle and gain some strength. I'm not focused on the scale anymore and
unconcerned with where my weight ultimately ends up. After gaining, I can cut back down to a body fat I'm happy with. With this said, I have a few questions.
How many weeks do you think I should sit at maintenance before moving to a bulk? How long should I bulk for? I'm currently doing Layne Norton's Power/Hypertrophy routine, would this work for my goals?
Thanks!0 -
Tagging to follow as we almost have the same stats:)0

How long has your weight been at 115 - 116lb now?
I cannot see any issue with doing PHAT as long as your 'lifting life' is long enough to make it more optimal than a less advanced routine.0 -
Weight has been between 115-116 for three weeks. I've been lifting for about 8 months now. Not sure where that puts me on the 'lifting life' scale.0

If you have started it and enjoy it, then keep with it.
With regard to your intake, I would up again by 100 calories and wee what your weight does over the next 2 weeks.0 -
Will do. In regards to a bulk, what would a good plan be for me? How many weeks and how much over maintenance?0

It's been two weeks. I've been averaging around 2000 calories. I did have a few days last week where logging was spotty. My mother was in the hospital and I was staying with her. I didn't go crazy with my intake, but to be honest, it wasn't my main concern at that time. My weight has been fluctuating between 116 and 117. I'm not sure if it's a true gain or just water and food weight. My calories are currently set to 2050, carbs 231, fat 68, protein 128. I find I'm often over on protein and under on carbs. Not sure if this is an issue. Any suggestions on where to go from here? I'd like to slowly gain for the next three months, maybe four. Not sure if I'll want to do a cut over the holiday.0

I know you guys are really busy. That tiny increase in my weight must have been all water and food. I'm down again as of yesterday to 114.8 lbs. I want to raise my calories by another 100 and keep raising every week or so until I'm gaining at a rate of .25-.5 lbs a week. I'll have to feel it out as I go. I'm also planning on doing a creatine cycle. I fully expect some water bloat from that. I took measurements yesterday so I can track my progress over the next few months. The official plan is to bulk through Nov/Dec. I'll have to see how I feel after 12 weeks of gains. If I can get to the gaining part LOL. If you guys have any other advice, cautions, suggestions please let me know.
I think I'm confident enough to handle this from here. I know if I have questions, I can ask. Thanks so much for all the help you guys have given me. I'll keep you updated on my progress0 -

Sorry about the delay in responding. I would suggest upping calories each week by the 100 (add to carbs) until you find maintenance. Then start creatine and sit there for 2 weeks to let the water weight settle otherwise it will be really confusing with the added water weight. They when it settles, and ready to bulk, add 250 calories and monitor your weight. You may find that you end up maintaining on higher calories so you may need to add a bit more. Aim for about 1 - 2lb a month.0
