Bulletproof Coffee and Calories

When you drink BP Coffee, do you count the (410 when I make it) calories in your daily total? Some members in the IF group don't, so I'm just wondering. I do a 16:8 IF and HAVE been counting BP Coffee cals.

I log it, but I have stopped doing any thing resembling a structured IF. Should the calories count as a break in fasting? I should think they do, physiologically so I'd say yes. Then again, I'm no expert.0

I don't count them because of the caffeine speeds up your metabolic nervous system0

I count the BPC calories in my daily total. I don't consider a BPC morning a true fasting morning, although it has similarities.0

I count the calories. I'm doing the bulletproof intermittent fast, so I don't count it as breaking the fast.0

Me too. I count the calories/macros but I don't consider it breaking my fast (I do 18/6 most days) because I'm getting the same benefits even with BP coffee (I generally stick to around 200 calories though).0 -
This sounds like that, "ice cream calories don't count if the freezer is still open and you're standing there when you eat it."
Of course they count. Caffeine does raise your metabolism some (as does standing by the freezer), but not enough to cover off 300- 400 calories. The premise is that the fat and oil are used for energy rather than turned to fat the way carbs would be. That said, your body is using that as a fuel instead of all that fat your body already has.
I usually do my cardio at low intensity in the morning (1 - 2.5 hours at a 4 minute pace), under a fasted state. As a result, my body goes through what little bit of glucose it can find and then starts burning fat. I can actually feel the point when this starts happening. On nights I didn't have wine, it happens earlier.
Don't get me wrong, I love my coffee. And I'll occasionally add a bit of coconut oil to it (especially when I've been eating more red meat than fish). What it does for me is push me to eat fewer carbs on those days as I have to focus on lean meats and vegetables to get my protein and not go too far over on fat.0 -
I'm doing 16:8 IF and have gotten in the habit of eating a TBS of coconut oil most mornings just because if I eat breakfast, I'm hungry all day for some reason, but coconut oil by itself doesn't do that. If my first meal is after noon, I'm not hungry for the rest of the day and have trouble getting more than 700 or 800 calories for the day. The morning spoonful of oil helps up my calorie count and doesn't trigger hunger.
p.s. I log the calories but don't count it as breaking the fast.0 -

I'm doing the tablespoon of MCT in my coffee each morning 5:00 AM - during the workweek. It really is all I need to make it to lunch at noon. my energy level is good all morning, but I seem to later crash after about 3-4:00 PM. I try to minimize carbs at lunch or else I crash right after eating.
Anyone else experience this?
when I track I do include the MCT oil.0 -
Thanks guys--I've been logging the calories, but not considering it a break in the (insulin) fast. I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track.0
