Ways to get more fat besides "add butter/oil to everything"?

Okay, so we make simple meals at my house (seriously, steak and potatoes is considered major cooking), which I don't mind, but I'm getting kind of bored of the same things. Also, I'm having a bit of trouble getting the good fats in, which is leading me to munching on things available at work, which aren't good (and I'm kind of paying for it).

So, aside from cooking everything in butter or coconut oil, and aside from avocados (sorry, can't stand the mouthfeel, even though I want to like them, they make me gag), does anyone have any good ideas for foods that are good and have a decent amount of fat in them?

Yes, yes, I know, I can look through the multitudes of recipes available online, but I'd like to see what everyone's favorites are.

Hollandaise sauce :d I could pour that stuff on my face it's so delicious!
  • Fat bombs! There are loads of recipes out there.
If you eat dairy I make ones that are
cream cheese, nut butter(I use almond/cashew blend and I make my own),cinnamon, coconut butter and coconut oil.
Having them in the fridge as a snack of fat is the best thing for me.If you are not eating dairy..drop the cream cheese.
Also, check other fat bomb recipes online, there are heaps of them

If I'm pan-frying my meat (pork, chicken, steak), which I usually am, I throw about a half-cup of unsweetened coconut per pound of meat, in the skillet about halfway through. It works even better if you practically drown the meat in whatever fat your cooking with like I do. The coconut soaks up everything. Which, of course, is why it's so damn tasty. I use an absurd amount of garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper when I do this, too.

I've also added coconut when baking pork chops before too. It was also damn good. Actually, it seems that coconut is to meat, as tomato is to pasta... except WAY better, obviously.

So, between the coconut and the excessive cooking oil (I know, you said no "add oil" advice...) use, this will increase your fat intake.

Well personally avocados are totally my fave, but I also enjoy an occasional spoil of some hard grating parmesan cheese, nuts (cashews and almonds are my go to), and bulletproof coffee. Bacon and pork sausages are also totally delish and if you can make up a nice chicken curry, add some coconut milk to it. It's wonderful!

I also make a great meal shake for myself with the same coconut milk, a banana, some blueberries and some whey protein. I usually have this after a great workout when I don't feel like eating too much.

Have not had the opportunity to try any nut butters (very limited availability here in Barbados) but I hear they are also very tasty and full of fat. Could also try pork rinds for a snack.

    Shannon,
If you can get nuts, you can make your own nut butter very easily.
Take the raw nuts and throw in the food processor and blend.I add some salt and sometimes cinnamon.
I also use raw nuts and roast them myself.

Only problem is, I don't own a food processor. I only have a blender wand which I think would be tedious and not work very well. I'll see if I can borrow a blender from my mum or something. Thanks :)
