My name is Kama. I just started this new way of eating last week. So I am learning, trying to get away from the "diet mentality. I use this food log to make sure I eat enough, but sometimes it gets discouraging when everyone else seems to eat so little. I need to lose about 60 pounds, but I want to do it right and healthy. Been "dieting" for too long.

Hello
The mental part is the most difficult of this and eventually you won't have to fret about eating enough, you will get used to it.
I found the first 2 weeks the most challenging mentally and scalewise. Now just cooking along, still in metabolism reset time period.
I do suggest you get your TDEE set, make sure activity is correct, most pick lightly active when its really moderate. I just right up to TDEE from VERY low calories, so I took my water and weight gain up front in the first 1.5 weeks. By the end of the 2nd week my body starting processing and working so I felt less bloated and icky.
Read the stickies here and go to the Eatmore2weighless.com site and read all the articles on metabolism reset. Very important information.0 -
Thanks, I will do that. I did do my TDEE already, but I would love to read about the metabolism. I have alot to learn or unlearn as my trainer would say!0

Having friend who eat more can be helpful, too. It is hard to see 1200 calorie friends' food diaries and seeing those who consistently net below their BMR.
I am more than halfway through with my reset and I think I am healing, because I am thinking about October and NOT wanting to cut!
Read all of the stickies and the EM2WL website. I read the posts in this group every day for encouragement. Welcome to the group!0 -
EM2WL is definitely a slower process than the VLCD thing, but it is *sustainable*. It is a lifestyle without deprivation and one that allows you to live a normal life without starving.
Try to gather like-minded friends and don't surround yourself with those eating 1200 calories a day or less. Not only will it be hard to see their diaries, but they will most likely be losing weight faster than you will, and that can be discouraging.
The good thing about *your* plan, is that you will not be destined to gain all that weigh back after you hit the inevitable plateau and slow your metabolism down to a crawl by eating at too steep of a deficit. Your weight loss will be slow but steady and sustainable!
You are on the right path, now, just surround yourself with others with the same mindset (feel free to add me if you would like...)0 -
Havent we all! Be my friend, I eat a lot more than anyone (although I am not always logging. ) I check in most days but don`t log my food right now. My calorie goal will be shocking! That ought to make you feel comfortable in the group for now.
Cheers! and welcome. It`s a good group and your body will thank you.0 -
Thanks all of you and feel free to add me. Yes is is very confliciting when all around me are trying to live on 1200-1500 calories a day and I'm striving for 2400. Determined to stick with this though. I already have more energy!0

Hi. I'm new, too. It's wonderful to find something that feels so right! I'm still in reset mode (couple weeks to go) and I never thought I'd be able to eat 2000 calories of healthy food. Now, I can easily and I'm not looking forward to cutting, but I know it will help me lose, so I will. I'm lifting weights, too and I think that's helping me to not gain weight. I have more energy and feel healthier than I have in years.
