Okay Fitness Pals!
New week. Fresh starts. More successes.
The fall is nearly upon us...
The light shifts deeper into the red each day in the northern hemisphere. The days grow shorter. Soon they will grow colder.
It is going to get more difficult to find the will to get outside and play. The price of "clean food" may go up as local produce goes out of season. The stress and nervous tension of the new school year and the holidays brings their own sets of hazards.
Darkness... Business... Misery... Despair... Loneliness... And all of those horrible horrible songs...
Name your trigger.
And everywhere lovely plates of This and That, and big bowls of Those Things and dip, and Boxes of That Stuff...and any one of them could just make all the fuss go away if I could just quietly scarf the lot in peace...
Okay...maybe I'm projecting again. But I do know my journey is going get more difficult for a while as I try to navigate through a new season with my eyes set on a prize that is still more than a YEAR away. All of my old habits are not that far in my past--even though being 60 pounds heavier and unable to walk to the store feels like a lifetime ago, it was just a few months.
The important thing is that THIS TIME things really ARE different. I am not alone. I am part of a community of people who understand what I am going though, who either know, or are learning what it takes to get where we all want to get, and who both share in and contribute to my victories just by watching.
We are all part of each other's success stories!
So in this spirit of building community, your daily challenge is three-fold--first, if you have not already done so, post your weight loss motto, or your exercise mantra, or an animated gif of your yantra...I don't care what it is...in the space provided.
I just want it to be yours. Something you can repeat to yourself when the going gets tough. And I want you to share it. Because your main motto might make a good back up in case my mantra fails--and vice versa.
The next thing I challenge you to do, is to either start a thread or post something to an existing thread within our group's section--like this one...I suppose.
(But that's kinda weak...)
The Usual Suspects and Regular Contributors are well known to, and much beloved by, the group. And more power to each and every one of you and you know who you are...
But I am talking to the 100 ish Others who lurk in the background...I really want to hear from you. And yes...the club rules clearly state that nobody is required to do...well...anything...
And if you don't feel like joining the other Whos screaming, "We are here!"..that's okay...I guess. But if I asked you really politely and with genuine interest...do you think I could get you to try a "yip"? It's more fun when EVERYBODY plays.
And finally...the last part of your triple header daily challenge--reach out and make a new fitness pal today. Doesn't have to be inside the group. Just add one more voice to your cheering section.
(Then we can work in shifts!)
Drink lots of water and make good choices. And find a moment to dance with joy and log the burn.
Good logging and good luck.

Good Morning All! I am one of those silent partners. My motto is "Strive for progress on a daily basis!" I came across this motto about 7 months ago. This time last year I set out on my journey to get healthier. After a couple of months I started falling back into some old habits. I gained and lost for about 3 months. After discovering this quote I reevaluated my way of thinking about this journey. Everyday I strive to improve something in my life. Tomorrow I will be 43 years old, and I weigh less then I did last year, I am cooking healthier alternatives to some of my comfort foods. I am moving in the right direction. My goal for this year is to PROGRESS! :bigsmile:0

I posted my weight loss motto (and my community ones) I started a great topic just late last night and I will go make a friend!
The holidays that is a scary one, I love to cook and my family (near and far) love to eat, but I just have to realize that I am in charge of what I put on my plate no matter what goodies lurk about! I have already started to plan my great defense over the winter months of holidays including saving up to buy a treadmill -out winters here are long and often pretty mean - and hosting the holiday meals so I can be in charge of how many sticks of butter go in the mashed potatoes! I know that wasn't part of the challenge but it is on my mind right now because of the weekly challage and thinking of all those yummy but naughty for me foods that stack the shelves of my pantry!
Now off to find a friend... I am going to the introduction boards to find someone starting out and feeling overwhelmed!0 -
Hello. Great challenge!
My mantra is "Make it Happen!"
I have to do the work. I have to earn my body.
I like what Dward said, "It is hard losing weight and it is hard being fat." Let's choose losing weight.
Holidays are hard because I love to cook and eat my cooking. My challenge this year is to modify my favorite holiday recipes so they are still tasty and healthy.
Off to make a new friend.
Thank you so much for the support Mark. It is true, we are all in this together. I hope we get some "YIPS!"0 -

Yips would be great...but I will settle for the odd Yop, too.
BIG SMILES AIMED AT EVERYBODY!

First... What's a yip? I feel like I am missing something lol
Second - I made a friend today I like friends!
Third - Holidays are scary. My grandma is already counting on me to show up for these big baking days which are going to be difficult since I'm not eating wheat. Sigh. At least they make rice stuffing so turkey day will still be ok
Thank you everyone for all of your awesome support! We can do this!0 -
Yip!
When I need to feel strong I run the words to that song through my head...
"Your never gonna break my stride... never gonna slow me down. Oh no! Got to keep on movin.' "
