Hi all. I am 48 years old, going through menopause, on thyroid medication and have over 100 pounds to lose. Is there anyone out there in the same boat or who was in the same boat and used EMTWL to get the pounds off? I was working out and eating better but got discouraged because the weight and inches just don't seem to be budging! Need to hear and see some encouragement please~!!

I am 39, starting menopause, just below the threshold for thyroid medication and have adjusted to a total of around 70 lbs to lose, but shooting for a size range not a number on the scale. The weight is slow to move (and moves backwards at times), but the inches are slowly disappearing. Feel free to add me.

And I don't eat "clean" by any stretch of the imagination, but light years better than I used to. :)

I'll be 56 on Monday, menopause is behind me, I'm on Synthroid and have over 100 lbs to lose. I previously lost 80 lbs on low calorie dieting and stalled. I've been frustrated for months trying to figure out what's going on. When I found the whole metabolism reset idea, it rang true to me. I started on Aug 19th and started lifting on Aug 21st. I don't have any scale results to report, as I'm still in the middle of my reset, but I haven't gained weight (which is a scale result, of sorts, I guess) and I'm full of energy and feel alive for the first time in many months! My body is changing and I am noticing strength, balance and emotional well-being that was absent before. My clothes still fit fine, but they fit differently, if that makes sense. I can feel my shorts sitting on my waist. I sometimes have to pull up my elastic waist pants while I'm walking through the store. It's a tiny thing, but to know that my body is responding in ANY way is a fantastic thing!

My advice: Just do it. Make a plan that includes increasing your calories to TDEE (100 or 200 calorie/day increase per week) and heavy lifting (I'm doing New Rules of Lifting for Women) and commit to it and do it. Do all the research and make sure you're doing the exercises right and challenge yourself every workout and do it.

In my opinion, there's no reason a 48-year old woman in menopause, on thyroid meds and 100 lbs overweight can't do it. We're not going to see the same results as a 25-year-old with 20 lbs to lose, but who cares? Results are results. Be patient with yourself and do it before you're 56 and WISHING you had done it at 48.

53 here and doing EMTWL. Working slowly but surely. I exercise 2-3 times a week only as it takes time for my muscles to recover after lifting. Am losing inches and my shape is changing. I love being able to eat properly and still lose weight. Good luck and it is worth it!

We are pretty much in the same boat, so please add me!

I am 48, have hypothyroid, take synthroid and cytomel, have stalled/gained weight slowly despite (or because of) salads and low carb that never did anything, and am peri-menopausal. I am 4 weeks into the re-feed and heavy lifting. I am gaining weight (up 6 pounds) which makes me anxious, but feeling stronger and have noticed some small measurement changes....though I really am having trouble fitting in my regular clothes--my butt, tummy, and legs are definitely bigger and I am still bloated. All that being said, I am motivated to continue as I could not continue to eat the way that I was and work out the way I was (lots of cardio) without real results. I have about twenty pounds to lose and would like to go down two pants sizes.

I really enjoy reading others' posts here and find them to be inspiring when I am worrying about the weight gain.
