Clean Eating for Beginners

Here is a quick and easy shopping list to get you jump started. These foods will help give you the energy you will need to stick to your workouts and stay on track. You don't have to get EVERYTHING on the list, but your diet should mainly consist of fresh foods. Avoid pre-packaged meals as they contain massive amounts of sodium, sugar, fat and OTHER.
Vegetables:
Lettuce
Spinach
Broccoli
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Tomatoes
Yams/Sweet Potatoes
Bell Peppers
Onions (red and white)
Mushrooms
Fresh Garlic
Zucchini
Jicama
Edamame
Asparagus
Carrots
Avocado (Technically a fruit, but treated as a veggie)
Fruits:
Strawberries
Blueberries
Apples
Oranges
Nectarines
Peaches
Plums
Grapefruit
Grapes
Watermelon
Honeydew
Cantaloupe
Star Fruit
Dairy:
Milk - 1% or non-fat
Cottage Cheese - low fat
Greek yogurt
Plain yogurt
Yogurts - snack size - read ingredients to be sure they are clean
Buttermilk - low fat
Meats:
Chicken - boneless and skinless or whole - organic is best
Pork - lean cuts
Turkey - breasts and/or lean ground
Seafood Salmon
Trout
Shrimp
Orange Roughy
Tuna - canned or fresh
Grains:
Oatmeal
Brown Rice
Quinoa - any color
Barley
Millet
Couscous - whole wheat

I've thought about becoming a vegitarian Katherine611. Why did you decide to become one?
One day I just started eating vegetarian food and really enjoyed it. No life changing story or tragedy from the doctors office. I also have a family history of hypertension, diabetes and obesity. Last but not least hgh chloesterol.:sad: :flowerforyou:
