Hello fellow Keto'ers :0)
I like message boards better than other forms of communication. My name is stayc (aka bikrchic). I am happily married with grown kids, We are blessed and life is good! Yet I do still battle my lack of control with food, weight, an my obsession with it. I have been a shipping/receiving clerk for 13 years and my DH, (dear husband) manages a automotive shop. We enjoy our Harley's, dirt bikes, camping, fishing, the outdoors, photography an family BB-Q's.
Started back on keto 3 days ago, (172lbs- down 3.2 lbs. My "bloated feeling" from being rebellious and eating WAAAAAY to many carbs for few months, is already gone. Pig spree is over an I'm grateful, I was feeling like crap!! The longest I have done keto is for a couple months with some splurging here an there. I found it to be the easiest diet for me an I been on many! Calorie counting, death by exercise, weight watchers, Hcg, Prism, Overeater's Anonymous, fast weight loss by starving, bodybuilders basic chicken, broccoli and eggs diet, an others I cant recall. I know how to loose weight, don't know how to maintain it, happily, but think keto is the closet/easiest for my lifestyle change along with exercise and surrendering to God in this area. A journey that will probably teach me my greatest lessons in Him.
I'm a cheese lover, so keto makes me feel like I'm getting away with something, most diets don't allow some of the fatty satisfying things that keto does. I feel fuller, happier on keto. I have done keto a couple other brief times but only to fall back into my carb/sugar rebellion mostly because some family gathering (BBQ's,picnics, birthday cakes) sets me off. They seem to throw me into a drugged state, just chasing the carbs/sugar. Lasagna, Nachos, bread, cheeseburgers, pasta, and milkshakes can fatten me up in know time. I seem to consume more calories and greater quantities. I don't think that crap food satisfies me physically. On Keto, I eat more veggies/meat WITH MY CHEESE an tasty sauces without the carbs an sugar an eat more moderately. So here I am AGAIN loosing the same 30 lbs. Sloooow learner I guess.
I don't have bunch of favorite keto recipes yet. I have found pork rinds to save me when a carb craving comes. The most helpful thing for me is to have all my meals/snacks prepared for the week in grab an go zip-lock containers. This works well for hubby an I. I don't care for cooking, but with DH, a bottle of wine, an some soft music in the background its nice. We both want to start that habit up again an also get back into the gym at least three days a week.
Weakness; I don't want to go to a BBQ, picnic, etc, an not enjoy the spread with my family. Though its hard to get back on track (disciplined) after enjoying "EVERYTHING GOOD"!
Weakness; LAZY - Working out is difficult to make myself go do. DH says I don't do intense enough workouts, thus slow progress. I do enjoy the accomplished feeling after the workout an its not as bad once I'm there. But very easy for me to talk myself out of going, make excuses. It IS SOMETHING I WANT FOR MYSELF and dh, AS A LIFE STYLE CHANGE though.
I am going to continue to post on this post as a journal of my progress. I appreciate any comments. :0)
