Stumbled across this today: http://paleomovement.com/alan-aragon-paleo-critic/
Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed in him. Alan Aragon researches nutrition for a living and is basically the top person for nutritional information. And yet....he's saying a lot of...well...crap. It probably doesn't help that pretty much his first response is the typical "Paleolithic era food as our ancestors knew it is all extinct now, so the Paleo diet is a joke." It's like he got that idea in his head (like pretty much every other critic) and never actually gave it the same research shake that he does other things. He also pulls out just about every red herring in the book.
It'll be interesting to see if/when some of the Paleo leaders respond.

He fails in the very first point. "It’s logically faulty to just assume that pre-agricultural times were optimal in terms of nutritional circumstances". Um, no, it's faulty to assume that pre-agricultural diets were anything other than optimal, especially when Anthropologists confirm the lack of "diseases of civilization" among hunter/gatherers. A diet supplied by nature is completely optimal, or we wouldn't be here. duh. Thousands, and perhaps millions, of years of survival on a diet that was anything less than "optimal"? Nope, Nada. Completely illogical.0

I fully intend to live a longer, better quality life than him, just to prove him wrong. I'm not going to defend it any other way. I'll look better, feel better, live better, and longer. Inflammation will slowly take life from him. No need to win an argument he isn't taking serious.0

He doesn't seem to seriously take a look at people that are thriving on the diet. I think that is a pity.0
