You've been on induction since May? Isn't that dangerous?0 -
Take a look at the phase 2....by now you should have introduced nuts into your diet.
I never stuck specifically to Atkins and all the phases. I was eating almonds, pistashios, and had a banana with breakfast nearly everyday. I never got close enough to my goal weight to move to pre maintanence and adding in more carbs. I stuck to this for a solid 7 months with almost zero cheating.0 -
We lost most of our weight doing a modified (and Primal) version of Phase 3. We found that we had to stay away from starches and could only eat whole grains once a week (our cheat day).
Good luck, Op, on your new life. Low carbing is just awesome! I love being able to eat such rich foods! I feel like a wealthy woman!!
eta - I have to add that we counted calories, too, and only ate what MFP suggested for daily cals.0 -
Follow the plan as written without deviating and the results and fabulous. Add in cheats and not so much. The reason for a strict 2 weeks of induction is to get rid of the cravings. If you keep eating foods not on induction list, your results may not be what you wanted. After 2 weeks, go to ongoing weight loss (OWL) and follow it carefully. I've been on it since May 7 and this morning I was down 30 pounds.0

I started Atkins in June 2012. I spent a month in induction then went thru the OWL rungs. As the weight came off and I began exercising more, my insulin resistance improved and I was able to up my carbs significantly. I'm maintaining on 150 - 200 carbs. As per the Atkins plan, if my weight goes up 5 lbs I lower my carbs to my CCL, which is under 75 for me.
I've had problems following other diet plans - low cal, low fat, south beach, weight watchers. Atkins worked I think because of the slow adding back of carbs, allowing me to learn exactly how much of something I can or can't tolerate. Like um, a 1/2 cup of gelato is OK, a whole cup leads to a whole pint!0 -
I started in April 2013.0

Started June of 2011, did induction for 2 years before starting to add in more carbs.0

Modified Atkins for 38 weeks (since January 7 2013 - at 225 pounds) down 43 pounds (182 pounds) so far - started my fitness pal in August to track exercise and calories so my ticker doesn't reflect my entire journey!!0
