Show Nerves!

I can't really talk about this openly on Facebook; too many real-life horse friends there! But I just received my times for the Region 1 Dressage Championship, and of course my nerves are really getting to me now!

And guess what happens when I'm nervous?

I want to eat!

So I hope it is ok with everyone that I vent a little here to hopefully help both calm my nerves and maybe stay away from eating too many calories!

Can you convince yourself the "nerves" are excitement? Congrats on making the Championship! If you must eat, share a carrot and an apple with your partner. Never know what nerves they may be dealing with as well.

  • Thanks! I'm sure I'll post updates of how things went, including how poorly I ended up eating while there. My dad, who still likes following me to shows, and the trainer from my home barn are ridiculously bad influences on my eating (and drinking) habits... and without my other trainer there to keep us all in check, I'm both looking forward to how awesome meals will be and dreading how many calories I will eat.

Today I stayed extremely busy and was ridiculously under my calorie goal (not on purpose, but I'm not going to eat more at bed time). I've never been one to "forget" to eat, but over the last year, it's been a more common thing when I get too busy.

As for Rok, he managed to figure out how to untie himself from the wash rack and wandered out in to the lawn to graze while I was cleaning his stall after our lesson. I'm very lucky he decided that grass was more fun than freedom, and that he's extremely easy to catch. :)

I love those easy going horses. When I take Willow out to let her graze on the lunge line the cat usually lays on it and keeps her from running away.

I hope that preparations are going well for you guys. I would love to see pictures of you competing.
