Hello, Been wondering who's still active in this group .
Fun Dressage video
Here's a link to an awesome video that Here4Cookies linked to me. It's an absolute blast - a Serious dressage rider not taking himself seriously. Hope people take time to watch it and enjoy it. :) http://www.horsecollaborative.com/brett-kiddings-thoughts-while-riding-his-first-grand-prix/
Horseback Riding Victories
We have NSVs so what about Horseback Riding Victories (HRVs)? Last night I finally - FINALLY - began to feel like I am actually making progress. I now reliably have the tools to fix the most common riding problems I encounter -- the bulging shoulder, the giraffe, the rush and spook, and the not-gonna-can't-make-me. Thank…
Horse issues
ok all need a little advice....we have a 22ish gelding that the owner of the farm we board at keeps telling me he needs seen because his privates look swollen. I was there earlier today checking him over because he has a small wound on his hind leg that has needed medicated. I checked him then because he is a little droopy…
did a speed show this weekend.
I am not a barrel racer, can chaser, whatever you want to call it. My daughter and her boyfriend went for fun. I decided to give it a try. To slow for a ribbon, but I had a blast. This is one more peek to losing weight. I can try new things.
Introduce yourself and your horse!
You totally don't have to own a horse to join! Maybe you take lessons or you lease a horse? That's okay too! Maybe you consistently ride a friends horse- that works! :] Anywho- My name is Chelsea. I'm 25 years old and have been overweight my entire life. I used to be in better in shape back in high school - which now seems…
How many calories are really burned?
So I know I can't get an answer unless I buy a FitBit or something and actually figure it out on my own....but I always just do MFP generic input for horse back riding - and I round about how many minutes I rode for and it gives me a number... but obviously you burn more jumping, or posting no stirrups, then you do just…
Feeling sad..I have decided to sell my daughter's gelding
It is just to much to keep up with his leg. We had it under control. Then had a couple of really rainy weeks. Busy with school, work, more work and life. We slacked on the leg and now there is another flair up. He obviously needs to go to a home that has time to care for the leg properly. I know it is the right decision. I…
Fear Conquered(mostly!)
Tonight was my weekly lesson and the trainer gave me the option of 2 different horses. I usually ride Silas; who is a Percheron/Morgan cross(17.2hh), occasionally Gus, a Suffolk (16hh) or rarely Ben, a Belgian(17.2hh); none of whom are particularly slow or lazy horses (which most people assume all drafts are!) so an…
New Horse!
I'm finally getting a horse! Ok, so he's a lease, not really mine, but much better than lessons/day leases. And he's much nicer than I could afford--an Irish Sport Horse, older gelding, made hunt horse. Should be broke enough for my kids to learn on, and I get to take him fox hunting and continue working on my jumping…
