Who will diagnose PCOS?

Hey all! I am fairly certain that I have PCOS since I have most of the symptoms (hair in places it shouldn't be, trouble losing weight, irregular cycles, etc...). I am just wondering who I need to see to CONFIRM my suspicions. Should I go to my primary care physician? Endo? Gyno? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I found that you kind of have to be armed with information when you ask, but your primary care doctor or gyno should be able to run tests to diagnose you.

Here is a list of tests that are often run to diagnose it: http://women.webmd.com/tc/polycystic-ovary-syndrome-pcos-exams-and-tests

I'd take a list of your symptoms and the list of tests just in case they are not really familiar with it and say you would like to confirm or rule out PCOS. I see an Internist and she diagnosed it, but with me telling her my suspicions. Be you own advocate!

The first time, I went to my OB and she ordered bloodwork and an internal ultrasound (no fun, but necessary for diagnosis). However, when the results came in a nurse called me and literally just spouted the results at me (Like "Your blah blah blah level is this. Your so and so level is that"). I was like "What does that mean?". And she says "You have to go see your PCP and have him tell you." So I go to the PCP and he said I didn't have it technically but was close.

The second time I was looking to see if I had it, i went straight to the PCP. He ordered the same tests and blood work and I did have it this time. So if I had to do it over again, I would just go straight to the PCP.

Um i dont honestly remember who dx me. I was 11 or 12 and was dx because i was in the ER every single month with a very painful ruptured cyst which BC never did anything about.

but id think your pcp would either dx you based on history or get you to a gyno who could.
