It was a sprint: 1/3 mile swim, 14 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Swim: 10:46
T1: 1:18
Bike: 57:30
T2: 1:25
Run: 32:06
Overall time: 1:43:02
I was the 5th woman overall out of the water..... then just about everyone passed me on the bike because I was on a mountain bike and it was sssllllooooowwww! Felt great on the run!
I had so much fun! My husband and mom took pictures the whole time and I was smiling the whole time.... talking to people, cheering people, playing with the volunteers.... it was a blast! I feel like I could have swam harder and ran harder, but I was hesitant to push it since it was my first race.
My goal was to finish in under 2 hours and I blew that out of the water!
There is another local sprint in April.... I am thinking about going for it. But, I will not do it until I get a road bike. Never doing that on a mountain bike again. I finished 4th in my age group. I feel like I can compete in this sport with the proper equipment and a mountain bike is not that!
Thank you for all of the advice and encouragement!
Now, time to start training for a half marathon!

Way to go! Impressive times! I can totally relate to the bike issue. Riding my hybrid in my first tri last month, I felt so slow! But it did get me up the killer hills, while others were walking their bikes. Next year, I will probably borrow my husband's road bike for tri's.0

I think your bike leg was pretty fast considering what you were riding. You're good you :-)0
