Loving Stronglifts so far, but a big part of my older workouts was always an ab component. So how do you work your abs around the routines?

Squats.
but then again do you concern yourself more with strength or vanity?0 -
Like your style, Amy! I did think of that.
Both quite honestly. I've just always done ab exercises and I like doing them.
Thanks for the tips!0 -
I do a separate crunches on a weighted ab machine at the gym, only because a stronger core means a better lift for me.0

So according to you I'm a vain person because I do BOTH compound lifting AND ab work then, huh?0 -
I do core every workout because I ski and mountain bike so it helps to have a strong core in those sports. I know the compound lifts use core too but I add more anyway. Workout A I do crunches and supermans. Workout B I do planks and oblique planks. I also admit I love the feeling of sore abs0

I have continued my abdominal work, since I don't feel that the stronglifts program is working my abs much so far.0

I agree that I saw a difference when I did separate accessory core work vs just doing the compound lifts. Many lifting programs propose good mornings, etc when necessary to help areas that are lagging in the compound lifts. Kind of like farmer walks for working on grip strength to improve deadlift. You could just do the deadlifts, but the accessory exercises help move the progress along.
Recall that the reason Mehdi removed all mention of the accessory exercises was to reduce complexity and confusion from his program, not that they were totally useless.0 -
Oh, and in answer, because I want to finish my morning workouts in a fairly timely manner, I chain a bunch of random core exercises from P90X's Ab Ripper X before I do my post-workout stretching.0
