Low Carb Flaming...

After reading a message someone posted looking for a few friends that were also going low carb, it seems 9 out of 10 replies were from people bashing low carb and generally acting like idiots. They say we're crazy for not eating 300 carbs a day but last I checked I can at least stay on topic and if I don't have anything productive to say to the OP, I don't reply. Simple as that. But not here. Everyone has to let you know how horrible low carb is and how its going to kill you. I wonder if any of these dolts spent any amount of time actually reading into the specifics of low carb? More than likely not as that would take away their flirting time on here with people they'll never meet....

Sorry, totally random rant there. Just drives me nuts when someone asks for help / support and more often than not the idiots come running.... Bah!

Oh and btw, Hello! I'm a new member to this sub community and have been in ketosis for about 2 months now. Feeling great, losing weight steadily and happy with life. Sorry for my first post being so all over the place... I think I need some bacon...

I know how you feel and I am fairly sure I know which thread you were talking about.

I, too, joined in on the flaming. But, reversed it against the over consumption carb eaters LOL

I am not sure if people just look for attention or why they feel the need to be douche bags.
But, let them .. I can sit and correct their dumbasses about low carb all day long :)

The part that pisses me off the most is that they don't even all stay on the topic of carbs..

A few people are actually talking about the subject where as others are throwing out their random dumb gif files and making a mockery.

The way i look at it is if they can lose tons of weight eating tons of carbs, great. That amazing for them. I'm legitimately happy that they were able to meet their goals and still chow down on bread. Not everyone is the same though. Some people seem to be extremely carb sensitive and even if they are under their calories for the day, the weight never comes off. I've known many people like that. Don't know how much medical based research has been done on the subject but I've read enough and have known enough real world cases to know that there has got to be something to it.

As far as correcting the flametards, I don't know if I would have the patience to keep them at bay for long. Theres far too many of them and not nearly enough of us with brains in our skulls.

**** That is the part that drives me insane ****

If you don't know anything about it, never tried it and don't adhere to it yourself, then why in the hell would you be posting in a topic asking for low carb friends?

I generally don't bother correcting low carb flamers/bashers.
If I read a post and the OP seems to be genuinely asking for help, I send a private message to look for the low carb and keto boards on the site for people who actually live the lifestyle.

Otherwise, I tend to stay off the "main" boards.
  • It just amazes me at how angry people get when you discuss low carb. Even people who are very successful with it...the people who don't believe in it tell them how wrong they are! Crazy... If I eat carbs I gain weight.. that's it. That's me.

And thats the main part I don't think most people seem to get. We may all be human in some form but we are not all alike. I've known people that literally survive on snacks. A few guys I knew when I was in the army ate snack cakes and candy all the time, rarely any real food. They were both bean poles. Another guy I knew would run more than we had to everyday so he could make weight, was put on a fat loss diet and still struggled to get any headway. He lowered his carb intake finally and it was ridiculous how fast he started losing weight.

lol yep eat that bacon. Those kinda people live in a little biased box & think that anything different than their extreme protein-carb-ridden-SAD diets is lunacy.

I'm not really interested in a fight about the pros and cons of different ways of eating. I think we're all similar but different, if that makes sense. I know my health issues require me to restrict carbs, and I've done so to varying degrees throughout the past year or so. It's helped me immensely. There isn't really anything to argue about, IMO. A lot of people do very well on higher carb, moderate fat diets. That is a fact, and it doesn't bother me, as it has no impact on me at all.

I do think it is right to point out that low carb isn't necessarily healthy or the best way to eat in all circumstances, and certainly isn't required for everyone looking to shed some fat. I don't object to those statements, as I agree.

What annoys me is that a noob looking for MFP friends gets pounced upon because he or she eats in a way that is laughable to the more vocal members of MFP. It's the internet, and I guess that's all one can say about that. :indifferent:

it drives me crazy. It's like this is the forum for a specific diet the "if it fits your macros, which we decide" diet.

That's how I feel about the main board.. not just about low carb but basically most topics.
  • Rice cakes? Really? Wow lol how about real unprocessed foods!? That to me is healthy and usually happens to be low carb!

Ha I know what you mean... The low carb board seems to have more "productive" discussions
