preparing for cut, Can I add exercise or change it up???

I am getting close to cutting, and was thinking of adding some walks in a couple times a week and possibly increasing the time lifting to 40 minutes and not just 30. Will this affect me negatively as I start to cut?

I don't believe so, as long as you recalculate your TDEE for the increase in exercise.
I'm 6 weeks into my metabolism reset and am not looking forward to eating less food when I get to cut so I'm planning on adding in 2 interval cardio sessions per week, on top of my current 4 crossfit sessions, so that my increased TDEE with 10% cut is almost the same as my current maintenance TDEE.

You can change up your length, type and intensity of exercise as much as you want, as long as you recalculate the change in your TDEE to accommodate for it :)

    Ditto to advice.

Curious if your reason is the same as Jordy - gonna miss the extra food, and don't want to give it up? :drinker:

That's how I have been doing it... Rather than upping or decreasing my calories too much, I just have been increasing or decreasing my cardio and NEAT. I plan on bulking and repeating STS soon and rather than adding calories, I am just going to be backing off on some of my hiking (mainly because the weather will be too cold) and devoting more time to lifting. This should drop my TDEE by a few hundred calories a day, so if I continue to eat at the same level, that should result in eating over TDEE...

Actually Heybales I really want to see results and feel I can put in more effort. Right now I really have had a challenge with time and 30 minutes 3 x a week is all I can do, but personally I want to put in more effort and see more results when I do cut.

I used to be one in the past to walk for almost an hour 4-5 times a week and do other excercises and when I lifted WAAY back with a trainer I put in at least 45 minutes 3 times a week.

I have been struggling with depression about how I look. Over 23 years of dieting and exercising and I was soo close to my goal weight (although jiggly) last year. Now 30 lbs away maxed out in my clothes. I have lost some of my pep and feel unatrractive. I am getting married next sept. and want to be slender and fit . I am still very worried this wont work for me, but I am sticking with this for another week before cut. 12 weeks and I feel that should be enough, but I need to make a change.

I am not afraid to eat anymore, and I really am not worried about reducing the calories. To be honest I didn't think about upping the excercise to keep eating. Interesting idea though.
