Resistance Bands Necessary?

I am starting today and noticed that almost all of these workouts 'require' a resistance band. I know most people would say 'they are cheap' but I am a stay at home mom of 2 little ones, so we are very limited in income! I honestly do not have the money to get a good resistance band right now, and I will not waste even $5 on one that has mixed reviews of breaking within 1-2 weeks.
I have 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and 10 lb weights (most of these I have had since my college years! ).
So my question is if anyone has performed the resistance band exercises with weights instead? If so, what was your experience and what pound weight did you use? I am not a beginner, but my upper body has always been my weak point.
Any advice on this is appreciated! Thank you!

When I first started using the program I used 3 pound weights in place of resistance bands so I could build up to it. In the final few weeks almost every other exercise will require you to use one. However I don't see the problem with just doing it with weights. I would just modify with weight ranges so you can get more resistance.0

Thank you so much for your reply! Okay, that is what I will try then. Enough weight to give resistance but where I can still keep good form which, like you mentioned, will probably vary depending on the particular move/exercise.0

I feel like the resistance band does not give enough resistance, I use 8 pound weights in the place of it.0

I"m not a fan of resistance bands. I don't really "feel" like I'm working my muscles so I just use weights in place of them.0
