6 days away from surgery...

I'm on a liquid diet pre-surgery. Surgery scheduled for next Wednesday. I am getting so disheartened and frustrated. Tuesday was my pre-op appt. due to several things I was super stressed so when I stepped on the scale Wednesday morning I actually showed a gain!! I am chalking it up to stress because up to that point I was losing .8#/day on the protein shakes...my doc wants 10# gone by Wednesday. As of right now I'm only down 6.4 in this time period (35 since starting my WLS journey). The nurse called me this morning to find out how everything was going I told her I was concerned about not meeting the doctor's required 10# and would be very upset if this last two weeks of protein shakes was for nothing!
Any helpful words from others who have been here/done that?

Keep up the shake diet....my care center said the main reason for the liquid pre-op diet was not only to continue the weight loss, but mainly to actually shrink your liver. I guess that it must be moved to the side during the surgery, and shrinking it helps.
So, don't be discouraged!! Just keep with the program they gave you. If you get in all they advise, you should loose ok. Just think in a week, you will be on the "other side" looking back at this prep!!!
Keep sharing and don't forget the regular clear liquids that you can have along with the protein shakes. It all works to get those pounds down + shrink the liver.
Good Luck and Keep us informed on how you doing!!!

If you're down 35 over all, I wouldn't stress if you don't quite meet the 10 pound goal for the liquid diet. Just get as close as you can. Good luck!0

Make sure you are using a low carb protein and mixing it according to docs directions. If you follow his instructions to the letter he can not be too upset. No sneaking bites of salty food. And drink lots and lots of water my motto is if you are not peeing frequently, then you are not getting enough water. Dehydration makes you hold onto the pounds. Don't be frustrated, liquid protein is your frien, not something to be endured.
After my surgery yesterday, I am back to only an ounce or two of protein drink with every 4 oz of water.0 -
Hello.....
By now you should be 5 days away from your surgery. Sorry to hear that you're stressing out so much over the required weight loss. I find that there are times when, for some unknown reason, I'm holding onto the weight and then suddenly I drop 4-7 pounds! It's crazy.
The main thing is to document the quantities and what you're digested. This way you can bring it with you when you have your last pre-surgerical weigh-in! Documentation is critical for both pre-surgery and post-surgery.
Which WLS are you having performed on you? I had the Gastric Sleeve done at the end of July. It's been fantastic. I'm feeling better each day.
I hope you keep coming back to our discussions here; the support here and the folks from all walks of life, is just amazing! It certainly helps me since my WLS support group only meets once a month near where I reside. Feel free to send me a friend request, but more importantly, keep us up to date with what's going on with you, okay? You're going to do GREAT!
All the best, Janis0
