Just thought I'd give you some encouragement. Low card dieting does work. I started in March this year and lost 20lbs by end of June. Since then I've kept it off. I've been using My Fitness Pal and keeping to the recommended calories as well as checking my carb count on a daily basis. Keep under 40 grams of carbs daily for 4 weeks to kick start your diet. I can now eat up to 100 grams a day and not gain weight. p.s. You don'r feel hungry on low carb dieting... Good Luck!

    Hi all,
Ive been low carb for about a month and a half and i am 7kgs down.

Its not at all easy, but i feel far less hungry! i just have to train myself to prepare foods and go for the right things.
i aim for between 20 and 60 grms of carbs a day, its not always possible but im getting into the swing of things.

Would love some recipe ideas from the people who have been doing it a while!!
i have found a few web sites and a great book i will list below for anyone who want them :)

    The book: http://www.bookdepository.com/George-Stellas-Livin-Low-Carb-George-Stella/9780743269971

A great website: http://www.diabeticconnect.com/diabetic-recipes - has a picture for almost ever recipe and carb count which is helpful by the time you are getting to dinner and dont have many carbs left for the rest of the day.

Also found this blog: http://lusciouslowcarb.blogspot.com.au/ which some of you may like.

    Lets do this!
  • I am starting today. Thanks for sharing your information.
  • Good luck to all of us!!!! I started today. I work over night so helped myself by bringing string cheese, sugar free jello and roasted seaweed. That seaweed, if you haven't tried is really good and VERY low on carbs! A pack has 5 sevings and each serving is only 20 calories and 1 carb each and not kidding it helped me keep my tummy not full but satisfied, like i didn't need to eat anything else :0). Just thought I'd share. I tried the "Atkins diet" years ago and lost 20lbs. in a month, yes drastic but i also incorporated low impact exercise, which helped me achieve it, planning to do the same. a word of advice don't do weight training (lifting weights/tone) until you increase your carbs. :)

try "www.allrecipes.com" ....... search for vegetarian low-carb recipes ...... they've got a spinach pie, zucchini & egg scramble, a meatless "meatloaf" ...... a TMT spread (tofu, miso & tahini) ....... but no calorie counts, so you'll have to estimate for logging purposes

    also "www.delish.com" ...... I adjust for breads & pastas .......

    http://www.fatsecret.com/recipes/collections/nutrition/low-calorie/under-100-calorie/Soups.aspx

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/gluten-free-recipes ...... there are sections for vegetables & desserts

I've had some good luck with these sites ..... take a look & bon appetit :drinker:

Watching carbs has always been a great way for me to loose weight. I have had a rought couple weeks and have gained back 6lbs so I seen this challenge and thought it may be a motivational tool! I am also part of another 8 week challenge that has a weekly weigh-in and a group spreadsheet that helps keep track of your progress and goals! Needless to say I have bombed on the last 2 weigh-ins. So here I am hopefully this will help get me on track!

Have been convinced by this having seen a colleague shed a whole load of weight on a low carb/possibly even no carb diet. Also, I just have this habit of making it okay to eat cookies, cakes and other sweet foods if I just calorie count - and before I know it I have eaten three or four - so none is really the only way forward!

This website looks AMAZING. Thanks so much for posting. Will be a breeze!!!
  • Carbs are also important in a person's diet. However, the carbs should really come from fruits and vegetables. I have tried giving it up completely and I felt really bloated and it causes constipation!
  • 2 lbs lost :)...yes carbs are important, especially for our brain (it needs carbs to function),so there needs to be a balance, because less carbs we eat it helps delay signs of aging too :)...Everything in moderation. I'm planning to eat few carbs for the next two weeks do walking, then gradually increase carbs to use them for strengthening exercises, that way i'm not flabby lol :). Hope everyone is doing well so far ;)

Yes you are right! Plus research shows when losing weight with a high protein diet it avoids saggy skin after weight loss! So an added bonus! YAY! lol

I LOVE that site Kayln's Kitchen!!

And I had a very satisfying and successful DAY one and cannot wait to continue going forward! I'm so excited to step on the scale at 1 week mark! When I was just counting calories a few months ago I lost about 1lb/week, for 6 weeks then stalled and haven't lost since, I'm hoping this helps get me over the hump and on my way to my long time ago pre-baby weight!
