Hi! I have a few questions about the body media

I have the advantage, been using for about a week now. I average about 1900 calories burned a day when not exercising. I'm visiting my family in the states so not as active. I only have my 2 year old with me. So my typical day is getting him up, making breakfast, chill out a bit since he is playing with his cousin. Make lunch and dinner prep and clean up, maybe spend a total of 2 hours cooking and cleaning. I'm 41, 5' 4 3/4" tall with about 20 pounds to get to goal weight. So I get the 1900 cals burned on those days, however, I was out shopping for about 3 hours plus of slow walking pushing my son in a trolly and I got the same burn. I use the display and my step count never adds up. I got 1547 steps after all that walking. I know I won't burn much but doesn't seem right to match a non exercise day. I have to run 3 miles pushing my toddler to get 10-12 thousand steps. And even when I do that which includes 4 very steep hill climbs, I only get about 400 calories more. My heart rate monitor gives me about 560 so that combined with my other light activities surly should be higher.
Other things I try to consider, I am always freezing. Since losing weight, I can't get warm anymore. My resting heart rate is down to 49 and all my exercise is walking or running with a buggy so my arm isn't moving. Does anybody know if being cold and not moving arms will limit the use of the bodymedia? I'm eating about 1450 calories a day and haven't lost weight yet but I go through this on long haul flights.
Sorry to ramble but really hoping for some help. X

the BMF has to "learn" you..give it some time. Move around normally..and after a few weeks..see where you land. I average 6-8000 steps a day...just for the simple fact I work downtown..and do lots of walking.
On days I dont to crap...I burn about 1800..which is good for me..0 -
Thank you for that. Will give it more time, just wasn't sure on the cold and step counts.0

Wait until you ride a bike and then it's really going to throw you for a loop. It did take me a while to get it set and you might want to adjust your mets at some point. I have some of my settings customized and I'm happier with it but I waited a month or two before I started looking at that. As far as freezzing - add some fat back into your diet. And I'm not talking transfats. Butter, cheese, whole eggs and avocados should all do the trick. Fat helps your body have energy for creating warmth. And you truly need that. Or else you will be cold all the time.0

Thank you both so much. I do eat healthy fats but will take a closer look at that macro and see if I have room for more. If I'm sitting around all day but not when working my behind off.
Today I did 30 mins hill climb challenge on the elliptical then a 3.6 mile hill climb running combo. Need to calculate my heart rate monitor calories and compare but my BM gave me over 800 extra calories for the day. I'm sure my steady cardio from my watch is about the same. I use a suunto ambit 2 with a great algorithm that uses lots of personal data so I'm quite trusting of it. The calories from my suunto will just be my steady state cardio but my BM will be from the entire day. That includes the cooking, cleaning, taking care of toddler etc.
At least the number burned is better. I'm sitting at 2411 calories burned.0 -

But you can isolate the time you worked out, on the BMF website to see how many calories you burnt just for exercise.0 -
The thing I have realized with my body media FIT is that to burn a signigicant amount of calories, you have to get your heart rate up and really move for some time...get uncomfortable. On days I feel like I'm running around like crazy with kids and house work, I only burn about 1900 calories. Very disappointing.0
